What is paid time off like at Palo Alto Networks?

Pros

-Fortune 500 company -somewhat decent pay

Cons

- No mentorship or growth opportunities - Colleagues will backstab you by complaining to your manager instead of coming to you with their feedback ( helping someone means that because you are helping someone, the business is impacted which is unacceptable) - Collaboration is frowned upon; if you ask for help thats too much then its held against you if you aren't a favorite on the team. - Work Life balance isn't taken seriously; "Unlimited PTO" is an illusion for most people while other people are given the luxury to take weeks off every other week while other people are not.

Advice to Management

-Stop the favoritism and hold people to the same standard - Actually invest in the people you hire and help them grow, see people as people and not as machines - Look for the positives/ improvements in people , rather than micromanaging and looking for reasons to put them down. Value their effort and long hours, rather than lying to them and then noting down points to be used against you in the future.

Does Palo Alto Networks offer massages?

Pros

It really depends on the team and manager you work for, a lot of negative reviews from sales and eng prisma team due to re-org. Mine is pretty awesome, flexible, management urges you to take FTO, manager is supportive and the best part is to have the opportunity to learn and grow with the team. On company level, only ESPP stands out, 15% off with 2 years look back, else are pretty standard in Bay Area, on-site gym/class, free snacks, drinks, coffee. During COVID-19, WFH till July 2020, $250 allowance to expense each quarter.

Cons

Could do better on 401K, company only contribute 1K, that’s barely nothing compare to FANG; No free lunch;

Does Palo Alto Networks offer dental insurance?

Pros

They are acquiring a lot of other companies so there is room for growth. Benefits such as medical and dental as an employee are great. You get two bonuses every year. Most other companies only provide one. FTO (Flex Time Off) is unlimited and at the discretion of manager. Unlimited options to learn and develop. They pay for certifications and continued education. You can expense a lot of things like gym membership, internet, etc. They give you a stipend in addition to your salary to use for pretty much anything you want. Working remote is amazing. You can choose between a brand new MAC or Windows laptop. Pay for your internet with your stipend.

Cons

People are very judgmental and love to use foul language. Morale in some areas is very low. Some people do not even want to see others succeed and don't give them awards or recognition. If you work for a controlling, self-centered manager it may be hard to get FTO. There needs to be more HR accountability. Unaware if there is even an employee relations because the onboarding is not very thorough. Not many people of color in upper management positions. No team work efforts. It's all about "me ,me, me!" Many of the employees do not care about career growth. They get comfortable in a position and do not want to move or further their learning. Turnover rate is high especially for engineers because of the office politics and inability to take off and have work life balance. Upper management (leads and directors) not aware of what the people under them do and let their senior managers do what they want. They only go by results. If results are low then there is a problem.

Advice to Management

Get more involved with what the real workers who are not managers do. Act like you care to help them grow. Make it more of a team environment.
