      Horrible place to work for

      Manager
      Former employee
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

One of the pros is you do get a lot of time off decent benefits and flexibility in your workday if your not overwhelmed

      Cons

The biggest downside to this company is its management and overall culture. Leadership struggles to make decisions and operates in a very disorganized manner. Employees are consistently overloaded with work, leading to burnout, high stress, and unrealistic performance expectations. There is also a noticeable level of favoritism, and both directors and upper management often fail to listen to employee concerns. While they promote the idea of work-life balance and claim to value their staff, the reality does not reflect that message. As the company has grown, staffing has not kept pace, leaving teams understaffed, overworked, and operating in constant chaos. Compensation is also below what other insurance carriers offer for similar roles. Perhaps most concerning, instead of holding underperformers accountable, expectations are lowered for them—while high performers are pushed to their limits or out the door entirely. Overall, I would not recommend this company as a place of employment.

Not the worse, but certainly not the best

      Multiproduct sales
      Current employee

      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

Pay was decent, benefits, culture, work from home, flexible scheduling, shift bids, green alerts, internal promotion, gainshare

      Cons

The work is mentally exhausting. Calls are back to back, they added a 15 second space between each call to "help" with employee burnout during peak season, but it's not enough. Quotes can take any where from 10-60+ minutes. The days are long. There is no work life balance in my opinion. There are many options to try to make your schedule work with your life, I will admit that. But most shifts are all day, for example: 10am-7pm, 10am-9pm, 9am-6pm. Lunch duration is an hour, but you can opt for a 30 minute lunch to get off 30 minutes early. If working a standard schedule, you get two paid 15 minute breaks and an hour lunch each day. Overall, the culture was good, but I don't recommend due to damage to your mental health. If you like call center work and would like to work from home, then I would certainly recommend Progressive. If you can stick it out, only 1 year is required on the phones, then you can move to a different position. But, do keep in mind, just about every sales consultant or customer service rep is trying to get off of the phones, so it's not a quick move off of the phones at 1 year. I do believe false hopes and expectations are given from day 1 about advancement. Progressive does like to promote from within, but it is very competitive. There is a gainshare bonus each year, the company's performance determines how much the payout will be. It's split into two payments, first payout is right before Christmas, second payout a little after Christmas. Not every consultant in trained to sell multiple products, but I was trained in: Auto, personal lines, and two different renter's products. I didn't appreciate having so many credentials, yet getting paid only 40 cents more than someone coming in with no insurance knowledge whatsoever. The turnover rate is also very high.

      Pros

Great benefits and pay, room for advancement, fully remote and hybrid positions are available in pretty much every department.

      Cons

The workload can get a little intense, but it's usually quite manageable.

Good company, great benefits, tenured salaries are not competitive.

      Pros

Very inclusive, great benefits with generous PTO, lots of discussion on work life balance, profit sharing is a great bonus on good years.

      Cons

Tenured salaries are lower, even with advancement/promotions tenured will always be behind the ball vs new employee salaries, can be a little disheartening for loyal employees.

      Pros

The benefits and working from home are amazing.

      Cons

Pay is not as great as it could be and the longer you are in the call center environment the harder it is for you to get promoted out.

Be prepared to work a lot of unpaid overtime.

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Can work from home occasionally, good benefits and bonuses.

      Cons

Management assigns unrealistic work loads, does not hire enough people to complete it, and does not compensate employees for working overtime.

      Great company to work for

      Insurance sales consultant
      Current employee
      Cleveland, OH
      Recommend
      CEO approval
      Business Outlook

      Pros

If you are looking for a position with decent pay, flexibility and great benefits this is the position for you. The work from home situation as well as the anytime PTO is excellent, especially when you have other responsibilities,

      Cons

The company claims that they offer a career ladder and opportunities for growth, but unless you are willing to wait 3+ years, or you are a favorite of a supervisor or you are affiliated with someone in a middle management position, the possibility for career advancement is bleak.
