How do employees feel about Qualcomm's hiring practices regarding hiring without bias?

Pros

Flex-time off policy and some smart engineers

Cons

Talent isn’t appreciated in this company at all. It’s a very political place, with a lot of political power given to directors of groups. So if your director is good, you can get better salary, better bonuses and timely promotions. If your director isn’t good, good luck getting promoted even to senior engineer (btw promotion = 10k salary increase, which is way too small). If you are in remote site (not in SD that is), good luck with finding opportunities for career growth within the company. Utterly disgraceful management, with loads of VPs reporting each other, who do nothing valuable for growth of this company. Upper management doesn’t really care for even basic needs of engineers (like monumental pay increase, creating work-friendly environment). Review system is biased and managers don’t really care about third party opinions (why even take them, if you don’t care about them?) There are better companies out there. Avoid like plague.

Advice to Management

Value your employees. Typically engineers. They are the ones who fill your pockets and make you filthy rich. Pay them well. Assist them in their personality development and career growth (typically at remote sites) and most importantly, stop making the place a political ground.

What is the hiring process like at Qualcomm?

Pros

Company is globally well known.

Cons

HR doesnt really focus on making the hiring process better or sourcing strong candidates or even paying employees market value. These are all main cores of Talent Acquisition and none of this is the focus at Qualcomm. Every leader just wants to cover their behind while doing as little as possible. Some recruiters sit around and don't have much on their plate and others are slammed with unrealistic goals and mixed messages as even leadership is unaware with what the correct processes are? It's a bizarre place to work. Maybe better suited for people with little to no experience in HR or are used to a chaotic and unorganized environment. Management when they are actually there in the office are so out of touch and focused on the wrong things and will blame members of the team instead of admitting their applicant tracking systems is broken. If you ask 5 leaders in HR for clarity on the current process you get 5 different answers. I feel like a dog chasing my tail here. Some recruiting leads have been here so long they are burned out and used to doing subpar work that it's become the norm. Too much focus hiring on young people instead of qualified people that's its borderline discriminatory.

Advice to Management

Step up, take accountability. Dont just fill a seat at a desk. Hire based on talent and experience, not looks and age. Hire a TA Director who is qualified and knowledgeable.

HR doesnt really focus on making the hiring process better or sourcing strong candidates or even paying employees market value.
