Pros

Wonderful people, great culture, good benefits, lots of opportunity to contribute across the company, inspirational leadership, challenging work, wonderful workmates

Lots of turnover at lower levels, not always open to new ideas, the diversity of the consulting work could be better because sometimes its very much limited to IT or tech implementations

Pros

The people. Met some nice, talented and awesome people

Cons

1. Salary is not competitive at all, for the amount of work you’ll be doing 2. Takes forever to get a promotion (2 years at minimum) and that’s IF the cards are in your favor 3. Working around the clock esp on projects that have high priority deadlines and go-lives and you’re looked down upon if not (managers disregarding your concerns) 4. The higher ups don’t really know what they are doing/share the proper expertise and knowledge to help you grow 5. They hire college grads vs focusing on higher talent and developing their people 6. Culture has completely gone down hill since 2020 7. Was on the bench for almost 5+ months A knock off consulting firm, but good if you just want to get your foot in the door I guess. There’s plenty of other companies where you work on quality projects, great salaries and benefits. You won’t find that at sendero. Accept an offer elsewhere OR get out while you can! Heard they’re having major company wide layoffs

Pros

- Work life balance is usually pretty good - Most non-management team employees are kind, engaging and fun - Volunteerism is encouraged

Cons

- Engaged employees have been voicing concerns for YEARS about the lack of growth strategy, jumping from "shiny thing" to "shiny thing" without focus on a strong foundation, lack of engaging work and general lack of direction from leadership. Despite this, the only constant has been "growth at any cost" which has proven to be detrimental to any potential success of the organization. - Sendero either doesn't care to or cannot attract top-tier, outside, experienced consultants for management level roles. Hiring people like that, instead of the 100+ fresh college grads every year, would do SO much to actually boost skills within and relevance outside of the organization. - At a recent quarterly, the CEO said that we would have to be comfortable "accepting less glamorous work". When the work we do is rarely glamorous to begin with, employees are extremely demotivated. It already appears as though Sendero accepts any work they can get, rather than declining clients or roles that are not a good fit for employees. - The way leadership has handled the challenges of the past few months has shined a spotlight on their complete lack of strategy and ability to "manage" the challenges of a changing organization and economy. It is apparent that upper leadership is not competent and is actively hindering any chance for long-term success. - A ridiculous focus on low-level marketing is both concerning and confusing. Other, much more valuable, IO groups and employees are cut or disregarded when they do so much to actually retain and engage employees who are so often burnt out. - Pay and benefits, while improved over the past few years, are still WELL below market rates. Maternity leave is 2 weeks, which is just embarrassing, and the reason why a lot of strong employees have left recently.

Advice to Management

- Growth at any cost is not a good thing - stop hiring so many fresh college grads and focus on bringing in quality experienced consultants. - Your OD and Delivery Support teams are extremely valuable resources for your consultants. They deserve resources and recognition.

Pros

• Most of your coworkers will be nice, competent and fun to be around • Work-life balance is good (no travel required) • Chances are, you will find a manager that supports your development • PTO amounts are good for consultants • In office events can be fun and office space is nice • Strong focus on volunteering and community engagement

Cons

• Like other reviews have said, Sendero is not true management consulting. It is usually IT Project Management, and often staff aug. In my time here, I’ve seen maybe 2 instances of high level managers doing some consulting. This is made even more obvious when you’re staffed on a client that employs another consulting firm; you quickly realize how different our work is from actual consulting. • Sendero consistently bends to the unreasonable expectations of clients at the expense of employees. Employees can ask for sometimes years to be rolled off, but Sendero will not in fear of losing a client or losing money. As a result, Sendero loses valuable employees instead. • The performance review process is super overcomplicated. Efforts to streamline it have not done much to provide clarity. It seems as if many promotions are based on who is most liked at the company rather than who has done the work to deserve it. • Feedback is encouraged, but if your feedback is negative it is met with defensiveness. Company wide surveys feel like they are used to make employees feel like things will be addressed, but changes are rarely made and if they are, it takes a long time. • Pay and benefits are much lower than other consulting firms. • Diversity and inclusion continues to be an issue firm-wide. It feels like statements made by top leaders about current events are made because they know they “need” to do it, but not committing to or knowing how to follow through on crucial steps.

Advice to Management

You can’t fix issues that are brought up in legitimate feedback with the same approach that got you there. When your employees tell you they want to be rolled off, believe them and prioritize that. Invest in Diversity and Inclusion the same way you invest in community engagement. Advertise what you actually do, not the idea of what consulting is.

Pros

In a year of much uncertainty, Sendero has truly stepped up to support its employees through the pandemic. I am thankful to work for a company that has a leadership team that practices so much transparency, empathy, and care for its people. I look forward to seeing how Sendero thrives as we continue along this path of growth and expansion.

Cons

Sendero is still a growing firm, so benefits are not the same as Big 4 consulting firms. However, Sendero has demonstrated a commitment to taking this feedback & taking positive steps in the right direction.

Pros

Sendero truly hires some of the best people I have encountered. Upper-level employees genuinely care about your success and make themselves available to all, even new-hires. Everyone will be a resource for you, and all are very friendly. People care about each other here and your colleagues will feel like friends. They are very understanding of life events, and as long as you get your work done you are welcome to fit in appointments as needed. PTO use is encouraged and never a problem. More benefits than I expected for a smaller company. They have done a great job with being completely WFH. They give you a very clear understanding of your career path, and hard work is recognized.

Cons

Can feel isolated on projects when only working with a couple of Sendero members, however, this is a typical dilemma in consulting. The company resource directory seems a bit outdated and difficult to navigate at times.

Pros

- Sendero hires great people. - Quarterly company events were nice - Office environment was good (when you are in the office/if your project let you go into the office) - Amount of PTO is pretty good - Senior leaders are relatively accessible - Depending on the project, work life balance can be pretty good

Cons

- Unfortunately, I wouldn't describe Sendero as a management consulting firm, but an IT project management firm. Most projects at the associate/analyst level are heavily technical, IT focused projects. This does an extreme disservice to college hires who think they're getting into management consulting. Most associate/analyst level projects end up being staff aug, which creates a happy client but discourages employee growth and satisfaction. - Benefits and salary are well below industry standard. Leadership frequently mentions plans to improve these items, but it is not acted upon. The amount of holidays and rollover PTO rules are significantly below standard. - Performance review is tedious. The results of performance reviews are turned into an annual review/promotion process that is vague and leaves more questions than answers. - Pretty obvious lack of employee diversity. The burden of leading DEI initiatives is often placed on people of color. - Not a place where most people can imagine themselves long term due to the time it takes to get to the level where the projects are engaging/true consulting projects

Advice to Management

- Be upfront with college hires about the type of work they can expect. Wouldn't you rather hire fewer people that are the right fit, than hire a lot of people that leave because the work isn't what they thought it would be? - Be transparent with plans for hiring and plans for expanding and encouraging diversity in hiring. - Choose to value employee growth and development, and satisfaction, rather than client happiness, by limiting staff aug roles. - Seriously evaluate benefits and pay. - Improve transparency regarding compensation and promotion.
