What is the retirement plan like at SirsiDynix?

Pros

Decent amount of PTO. Work from home options. Some genuinely nice people work for this company.

Cons

Benefits package is lacking. Parental leave is only 1 week. Insurance is expensive. 401k match is worse than most retail stores and fast food establishments. There have been no raises since 2019, due to “Covid.” But in reality, the company is doing fine, and they’ve saved millions in travel and office expenses since Covid hit. 90% of our customers are government funded, so Covid really didn’t cost a bunch of customers, they just used it as an excuse to not backfill positions and not give raises.

Advice to Management

Take care of your employees. Your company reputation is based on having the best people, the best service, the best support, and the best relationships with your customers compared to other library software companies. We have lost lots of people lately who loved working here, but just felt they weren’t valued. When people leave, hire new ones in most of those positions to avoid burnout of remaining staff. Stop hiding behind Covid for all your financial decisions. The average wage growth year over year in America the last 3 years is 6%. That’s an 18% increase over that 3 year time. Sirsidynix has given 0%. They were already behind on wages compared to similar companies, and have just gotten further behind. You have long tenured employees who have been loyal for 30 years wanting to retire early because they are simply tired of not being paid properly, and being overworked because every time someone leaves, the better employees have to absorb the workload because you rarely hire people in a timely manner. There are people stocking shelves at target making more than starting wage in customer support. Make sure people are paid according to their position. A support analyst 2 should make more than a support analyst 1. They’ve earned it. If they deserved the promotion, they deserve to make more than every person that is a support analyst 1. This is across all departments. 1<2<3<4
