How are senior leaders perceived at SmartThings?
Pros
Competitive compensation package Flexible work hours SmartThings employees are great to work with Free to explore new tech provided team buy in Cloud engineering teams have the ability to use all that AWS has to offer
Cons
There has been high turn over at SmartThings both at the leadership level and engineering team level in the last few years. The last of the founders left late last year and half of the SmartThings leadership team has turned over since then. Lots of the original SmartThings engineers and mid-level engineers have left as well. The turn over is mostly due to Samsung since Samsung owns SmartThings. Any feature or work related to them will take forever to complete or gain traction. Corporate politics and a blaming culture are prevalent at Samsung which SmartThings teams has to contend with regularly. If your work isn't flawless, prepare for push back and numerous delays from the Samsung side which ultimately results in lack of innovation and meaningless work. If you want to know what it's like work with Samsung, check out Samsung's Glassdoor reviews. That is what you'll end up involved with.
