How is the work/life balance at SmartThings?

Pros

The people work in here are experts. You are surrounded by extremely smart people. Everyone is friendly, helpful and open minded. There is no competition between colleagues. Everyone is evaluated based on his/her own performance. Packages are wonderful. Ask around and see who can match how much SmartThings pays. No other company can match it! Great health benefits. Great work life balance. Free snacks, beverages and beer in the kitchen. All the things you can imagine are taken care of by the company so you can focus on making positive contributions to the company and write clean and good code. I'm so lucky to join SmartThings. It's definitely greatest opportunity in my career.

Cons

No cons so far. No free parking but you can't complain about that because the location is next to downtown Minneapolis and surrounded by great restaurants and next to Mississippi River.

Great work life balance.

How flexible is your schedule working at SmartThings?

Pros

- Benefits/Pay - You get to work with brilliant & great people - The IoT space is fun and exciting, and SmartThings is a leader in that space - Flexible work schedule - Amazing culture

Cons

Samsung makes all the decisions for SmartThings, no matter how it affects the product, the company, or the people. That results in drastic changes at least once a year and mass layoffs.

Advice to Management

I loved SmartThings and the people there, but the constant changes from Samsung and comple lack of support makes the company a ticking time bomb. Figure out how to shield your employees from the erratic behavior from your parent company.

Flexible work schedule
