What is paid time off like at Sonos?

Pros

Great benefits, new hire and annual stock grants as well as 15% cash bonus Great leadership team. First company where I feel like our leadership team sincerely cares about the employees Flexible work-from-home policy 3 weeks PTO annually + Holidays + Birthday + Days for charity Great people Many opportunities for advancement. Once you have a job there, there are clear steps you can take to move up to the next level if you desire.

Cons

Ever since the George Floyd situation, management has been encouraging employees to take company time to read anti-racism and white guilt literature (note: encouraged, not required). Conservative views are not publicly spoken about, while progressive views are welcomed and talked about openly. I'd prefer to keep politics out of work altogether. I would still consider this a 5 star company, which is saying a lot. I plan on working here for years to come, and my hope is that the politicization of our work environment is only temporary and will blow over when public outrage moves on to some other topic.

Advice to Management

Do what you have to do for your public image, but don't encourage employees to read your white guilt propaganda. Some of us want to just come to work and do our jobs that we get paid to do, we weren't hired to be political activists on your behalf and it's unfair to ask us to do so.

Does Sonos offer family leave?

Pros

- Great Maternity Leave - Awesome Product - You wear a lot of hats and are able to try things outside of your expertise (mostly because you have to due to lack of focus, prioritization from the company + lack of bodies/resources) - Good work life balance - Santa Barbara

Cons

- Lack of leadership across C and VP level - Top down and bully culture - Company preaches empowerment, but all real decisions are made by senior leaders - Pay (not competitive with the marketplace and cost of living) - True lack of HR support and employee development if below a director level - Fun, exciting start up culture has been decimated due to 2 layoffs over the course 3 years - Lean teams along with a lack of budget make it a difficult place to work - It's work to work here. You spend more time figuring out how to do your job then actually doing your job. - Quality of life at Sonos is dependent on what team or department you are in. - A lot of office politics, the most I have ever seen, especially in the marketing department. - Boys club. Extremely challenging place to be heard as a female.

Advice to Management

Practice what you preach. Recognize people for their work. Invest in your people. Develop and hire leaders that are good people managers. Understand the purpose the brand , what makes us different and stick to it vs changing it year and after year. Make your consumer communications easier for people to understand.
