Why do Sutter Health employees quit?

Pros

Plenty of consideration was taken to place me with one of the several MDs I was working with on a daily basis. I’m sorry I left their employ, however the (1.5 hour each way) commute was killing me. I left for a job minutes away from home, they promised me the world and failed to deliver. I was supposed to start with 12-14 patients a day with lots of “guidance”, I’d only had 1 year experience-within 2 months I was seeing 22-25 patients a day without help, I couldn’t even take a bathroom break most days. I regret leaving Sutter, they were fantastic. It says 2017 but that’s the oldest date available. This was actually 2007.

Cons

None, except a 3 hour daily commute.

How are promotions handled at Sutter Health?

Pros

Stable, pays well, good medical benefits, women in high level positions

Cons

Slow to move, slow to innovate, not diverse, places graduate fellows in high level positions simply because of a masters degree and not anything based on merrit, doesn’t place priority on internal hires

Advice to Management

Grow your employees, offer better education reimbursement, stop putting administrative fellows in positions over people who have the experience, make decisions faster and don’t let everything get bogged down in red tape.
