Does Trinity Industries offer family leave?

Pros

People are friendly and the pay is decent for the amount of work

Cons

-It's not set up for any career advancement, so there isn't any training or continuing education. People stay here for a long time because its easy, but there is typically no chance of getting promoted because there isn't anything to get promoted to. -I would not say its "woman friendly" in regards to benefits. They don't even cover maternity leave converage in the benefits package. I had to request information from HR and was told only FMLA leave is available. -There is tons of red tape involved with every aspect of the business, so much it prevents growth. There are no intentions of investing more money into our division and just push for the biggest profits with the smallest possible costs.

Advice to Management

Provide more opportunities for employees to advance their careers. Invest in your divisions and your employees

How are senior leaders perceived at Trinity Industries?

Pros

Paycheck on time. Very good people to work with. Plant learning and development encouraged.

Cons

Plant management only approach to leadership is not motivational at all, rather an unattainably results-driven approach. Culture stuck in the 80's. Leadership promotes competition between peers, but long tenure peers will block, harass you and promote a hostile environment the best they can. Long tenure leadership will have their ways to promote to plant managers and maintain favorites based on outside work relations (family or friends). Generalist culture is too strong so that few functional experts will not have any say on important company decisions. Difficult time as the company is switching from manufacturing to services, only leadership had planned their way to stay on top, and visualized ways to push away talented personnel that may have differences of opinion, be careful of surveys under an "organizational study".

Advice to Management

Changes had to be made, difficult ones, but new leadership is going to have it really hard without aligning and bringing new fresh leaders to implement the required planned changes. Start having an open organization where flow of information goes effectively around people, promote transparency, and enforce ethics on big purchases of equipment and plant expansions, it s very easy to take favoritism out f the company as well.
