What are perks and other benefits like at Urban League of Greater Southwestern Ohio?

Employees are very connected and bonded w/each other; leaders in the black community

Cons

Upper Management lacks knowledge and understanding of programming across the regions; policies and practices are unclear/uncertain and do not provide the necessary framework for organizational effectiveness; benefits are TOO expensive and the pay is far too low

Advice to Management

Allow stakeholders to select an external auditor/assessor for the purpose of advising on organizational transformation/reformation. Sometimes we’re too close to a thing to see what it needs.

What is the retirement plan like at Urban League of Greater Southwestern Ohio?

Pros

Professional work environment. Great opportunity to serve the community. Line staff are dedicated.

Cons

Since the retirement of the former CEO and President, the organization lacks focus and leadership. The Board lacks the presence for real policy leadership and plays power games.

Advice to Management

Higher Competent Senior staff and let them do their jobs.

How are senior leaders perceived at Urban League of Greater Southwestern Ohio?

Pros

Definitely needed to do great things for the community with a real leader.

Cons

Being run by a interim CEO that has allowed a consultant to run the day to day business. All involved are friends of the Board President who manages to cover things up. Has 15 vacancies that all occurred in the past few months because of lack of trust in leadership. The consultant has replaced the employees with their family and friends. Too much waste, lacks structure, and staff has no faith in the current leader.
