Pros

VIPKid provided a consistent platform and thorough materials to teach a wide range of abilities. The opportunity to connect with these children and an entirely different culture, without needing to leave home, was invaluable, especially during the global pandemic. The hours, while early, left me free the rest of the day for other part-time work.

Cons

As with any teaching job, there will always be some children that present issues. VIPKid had a decent support system in place, but it was not always consistent. Toward the end of my employment, the pay structure changed, and it was no longer as appealing to stay.

Pros

+After an often slow start, the money can become pretty good! It will take effort, though. +VIPKid is very straightforward in its expectations. As long as you show up on time, be prepared and put in your best effort, they will honor their guidelines for increasing your earnings. +NO OFFICE POLITICS, just mostly cute, sweet kids. And an occasional eye-roller. But mostly cute and sweet. +No work clothes to buy, no lunches or snacks to buy, no gas to get to work. Getting to work is rolling out of bed, throwing on a decent top, brushing my hair and sauntering into my home office. +If you enjoy international experiences and are open to learning about Chinese culture and the Chinese language, it is a lot of fun! I have made some WONDERFUL little friends (and a few parent friends!) over the past three years. +I was able to do VIPKid and support me and my son when I was too anxiety-ridden for other kinds of work (my husband passed away after a horrifying decline). I will always be deeply grateful that they got us through such difficult times, including keeping me working throughout the pandemic. I don't know what we would have done without them. Sincere thanks, VIPKid.

Cons

-THE HOURS. They suck. But there's really not much that can be done to change that, except maybe move to Europe (and yes, I've given it a lot of thought!) :-) It will always be the day in China when it is night in America. That's not going to change.

Advice to Management

Mmmm, naw. I sincerely love VIPKid and will always defend them.

Pros

The executives of VIPKid have worked incredibly hard to create a friendly platform that has contributed to a better understanding of Chinese culture through teaching their youth. I feel this company plays an important role in moving the world toward a more cooperative and peaceful world. With the Chinese Education newly imposed rules to rein in the communication by restricting Chinese students from taking lessons from non-Chinese instructors, China is hitting at the heart of VIPKids business (woman owned). VIPKid is struggling to re-invent its platform to teach children from other non-English speaking countries, It is truly sad because thousands of Americans and Chinese children have developed loving relationships that will be cut-off once the full law has been enforced.

Cons

They kept changing the pay scale which resulted in less pay for teachers who teach fewer hours.

Advice to Management

Good luck for you future business.
