What is the salary like at WideOrbit?

Pros

The team is relatively small, but it's part of a medium-sized company. So you have lots of opportunity yet more stability than a start up. Great place for full-stack developers, or to learn to become full-stack. The office is pretty quiet and everyone gets along and works well together. Benefits and salary are competitive and time off is more generous than most other companies. Work-life balance is pretty good as well -- there's not a ton of overtime and most managers are flexible with personal obligations and appointments.

Cons

Since it's not a big company, it can't really compete with big players in the market in regards to signing bonuses, stock options, and end of year bonuses. Also, the higher up you advance the more likely you are to work more overtime.

What are other benefits and incentives like at WideOrbit?

Pros

Fair compensation and great time-off benefits. Great people; some of the best I have ever worked with. Driven, but fun environment.

Cons

They are above average in compensation, but just a little bit; there are other companies with the same positions that pay more.

Advice to Management

Keep up the good work.

Fair compensation and great time

Does WideOrbit offer a yearly bonus?

Pros

Expensive espresso machine. Free coke, if you think that's something good.

Cons

Recruiters promise whatever you ask for, won't care less once you're stupid enough to sign the job offer. One HR person may personally care but overall won't see any issues. They're in the HQ, you're in a branch office far from them. Incompetent technical managers know only ancient technologies and architectural patterns, don't want to learn anything new. Micromanage you instead. All opportunities for improvements are always overlooked and missed. Technical debt is their food. Salaries are small, most of the staff is underpaid. Don't believe anyone who says they're happy. Only mates of old time managers can have a word and a buck here. $500 employer match to 401k and $1000 annual bonus are both a joke, better didn't exist at all. Male employees can't have paternity leave, get $250 for food and diapers and a day off.

Advice to Management

Mid level managers took the company hostage, don't care about employees, exploit them to personal benefit. Doesn't seem the CEO bothers much. Eric, clean up the house. Or close it all together, it's doomed. Start over, this time hire only good managers and VPs.
