Does Yu Ming Charter School have any sort of mentoring program?

Pros

- Teacher autonomy in lesson planning, structures within the classroom - Team-oriented - Fantastic, involved students and families - Community-oriented - Strong work ethic culture - Dual language immersion, students graduate bilingual in Chinese and English - Every teacher/staff member has a coach and new staff have an informal mentor - Data-driven (assessment cycles every trimester) - Badgework/Circles for Social-Emotional Learning for students and staff

Cons

- Less school-wide data-tracking systems, more teacher autonomy - Less English instruction because of Chinese immersion model (For K-2, it is 85% Chinese, 15% English, and then as you move up grade levels, it becomes closer to 50%/50%) - English teachers are departmentalized (so teach ~3 homerooms), Chinese teachers are the homeroom teachers

Every teacher/staff member has a coach and new staff have an informal mentor

-Everyone at Yu Ming wears a lot of hats. If you like a slower paced environment, or are not committed to ongoing personal growth, this may not be the best place for you.
