    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 4+ weeks. I interviewed at AK Steel Holding Corporation (Butler, PA).

    Interview

The process starts off with scheduling a primary skill test in Butler, PA. This test takes about 3 hours and covers personality, math and logic. After passing that test, another test was scheduled for a later date to take a multiple choice knowledge test which was another 3 hours long. After that test, another test on another date was scheduled to take a 4 hours long hands on test. In all so far, I took 10 hours of testing on 3 separate days to just be mailed a letter stating "you did not meet the requirements of the test." So, I don't know if that means I failed the last test or that the combination of all the tests was not satisfactory.

From what my proctor said, the next step would have been an interview, physical, drug test and last of all a plant tour.

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at AK Steel Holding Corporation (Butler, PA) in August 2016.

    Interview

The interview process took weeks. I was phone interviewed by some lady in human resources first. Several days later, I received an email to contact them to schedule an on site interview. Arrived at the interview as scheduled, to find out the lady in human resources was not available, so I was interviewed by a clerk in HR. She had me meet two supervisors, who were unprepared. The total time interviewing was about an hour and a half. I was told they would be in touch in a few days, that was three weeks ago. I sent two follow up emails, with no response. If this is how they treat interview candidates, I suspect as an employee they are treated even more poorly. Hint to HR your organization is being interviewed as well.

    Interview

I went through a phone screen with two female managers who conducted a very disorganized interview. I felt like I was being bullied and their tone seemed aggressive. Their questions were perfectly acceptable, however when they asked me to go into detail, I felt that they were intentionally trying to intimidate me. The interviewers seems bored and uninterested. The whole interview process felt very unprofessional.
