    Software Test Developer (Contract) Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in Cambridge, East of England, England (UK)
    Declined Offer
    Positive Experience
    Average Interview

    Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Alcatel-Lucent (Cambridge, East of England, England (UK)) in November 2014.

    Interview

Had a 45 minute long informal chat with the guy who would be my line manager, we talked through my CV and experience, technologies I had used and so on, then we talked about the company, what they do and how they test. Toward the end another chap came in and gave me some Python code to review, prompting me to point out what was wrong with it. It contained everything from glaring logic errors to subtle style issues, and I probably didn't see everything, but it was a positive experience.

They seemed like nice people and I would have worked there if there weren't issues with my agency.

After the phone interview I was asked to come to their Swindon office for a face to face interview. A HR personnel took a 10 minutes competency based interview. She asked me about the company, my future aspirations, team-work experience etc. The same two hiring manager took the interview again and asked me similar questions from my CV along with job specific questions. Questions were asked about LTE network architecture, technological specifications and about femto cell simulation in C. They reimbursed my travel expences which was about 40 GBP.
