    Easy Interview

    Application

The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at American Express.

    Interview

The process took forever! I applied online on early December in additional to an internal referral. I got a quick reply from the HR/Recruiter (with AMEX use an external agency), the recruiter did a quick 10-min interview about my background and the basic info. A week later, I got another call from a different recruiter, asked me the same basic questions. A week later, got a phone interview scheduled with the hiring manager. No status or anything after the phone interview. Totally thought I bombed it. With the holidays, I gave it a couple weeks before hearing back. Never heard back, i followed up with the recruiter, was told the hiring leader is on PTO, waiting for her to return. Two weeks went by, nothing. Then another two weeks went by, finally got an email from ANOTHER recruiter (third recruiter), asking my availability for 2.5 hours in-person interview in the NYC office. Told her my availability, never hear back, had to follow up again. Finally got the interviews scheduled, traveled all the way to NYC (WITH NO REIMBURSEMENT OF TRAVEL). Thought the interviews went okay, mostly behavior questions, people were nice to talk with.

A week went by, didn't hear anything. I got an offer from another company, but i wanted this position because it sounds interesting based on the description. Followed up with the hiring leader, NO REPLY. Followed up with one other person. NO REPLY. Finally days later, I got a message from AMEX saying "Your application has been cancelled, and your position will not be filled at this time."

Please work on the communication! I wasted more than TWO months on this one position, working with three HR people, went through 2.5HR interviews, had the most patience and positivity, BUT GOT A HUGE RUDE REJECTION EMAIL IN RETURN. It seems they didn't want to hire anyone in the first place, should have communicated to me and not wasted my time.

    Agile Program Manager Interview

    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied online. I interviewed at American Express in February 2017.

    Interview

Phone Interview was done remotely with a contractor via video conference, not the actual hiring manager or an employee within the group. Interview questions were based on script, starting with the following topics: Agile Methodology, Personality/Behavior Questions/Technical. The interview was a bit more technical than I expected for the role, probably because the role sat within technology. The questions asked were very "text book-like" questions. Meaning, you might have learned it in college and/or through certifications, but if your prior job experience didn't practice those methods, you will not know the answers to the questions.

    Interview Questions

    • User Story - In the agile methodology, how do you know a story is completed?   Answer Question

    Platiinum Customer Care Representative Interview

    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at American Express (Plantation, FL) in January 2017.

    Interview

Apply on line. If you make that cut there will be a torturous online assessment test that will make you sweat. Next step a 45 minute phone call with a corporate recruiter that will feel like you are being interrogated by Johnny Cochran. If you make that cut you will be fortunate or unfortunate to be invited to their speed dating like group interview with 20-25 leaders at five tables and they ask you those stupid STAR Type questions. If you prepared and studied 5 weeks prior for 7-8 hours a day you will feel so proud of yourself compared to the losers that answer before you but the next day your odds are high that they will send you a rejection letter. You can search the internet or sites like this and just like when a boyfriend or girlfriend breaks up with you , you will never get the answers as to why so prepared and detailed in your responses and you didn't make the cut. No one will give you a clue as to what you could have done differently. It would be easier to get hired as a rocket scientist than to get hired by this company

    Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at American Express (Phoenix, AZ) in December 2016.

    Interview

***APPLICATION IS COMPLETE...I HAVE NOT COMPLETED ENTIRE EXPERIENCE YET, so I have not received an offer or a rejection. Just want to help people who are in the beginning or middle of the process so far.

I have completed the application process with a referral from a friend who currently works for Amex. The application itself is easy. In the past I have applied for a position with the in-bound global corporate customer care department. I made it to a phone interview with that position, but unfortunately goofed on my resume with stating I had my degree when I was technically one class short. I told the recruiter that I was one class shy of my degree and she nicely explained to me that American Express verifies everything on my resume and therefore that would look deceptive to a recruiter on paper. I am positive that is why my interview process with that position stopped and I was declined for the position. Between the application and the phone interview, I had to do the online assessment. Make sure you have an uninterrupted, distraction free hour to complete the assessment. It is not terribly difficult, but it did take reading and some serious math skills on my part to finish. I finished the assessment with time left over, and felt good about 90% of my answers.

    Interview Questions

    • Several questions for this interview were, "Why did you apply for the entry level travel counselor position" "Tell about a time where you provided an extraordinary experience rather than an ordinary experience for someone" "What is your proudest achievement up to this point in your career?" "What is something you are passionate about?"   Answer Question

    Interview

Applied online and was contacted by a recruiter for an interview. Recruiter screening was an hour long interview. A couple of weeks after was contacted for a follow-up interview with the hiring manager. That was another hour long interview - went through my qualifications, the role responsibilities, and then behavioral interview questions
