    Application

I applied online. I interviewed at American Foundation for Suicide Prevention in October 2014.

    Interview

Interviews with members of the development team went well enough to land me a second interview, with the department head. Immediately following this, I was given an assessment to gauge my adeptness with their database system. I demonstrated an understanding of it immediately after one introduction, so imagine my surprise to read a rejection that claimed another candidate "already knew the systems." Should that be more meaningful than the fact that I picked up the skill right away? I don't know how much more proficiency would have worked in my favor because no one set out to determine what else I could absorb, let alone explain if there are more complex procedures. I can only glean that other reasons were used to disqualify me. This result is doubly perplexing after overcoming the notion that I'm overqualified and humbling myself to accept the offered salary.
