    Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took a week. I interviewed at American Well (Boston, MA) in August 2014.

    Interview

Very quick, they make decisions quickly. They had me meet with multiple people, and each person was more impressive than the last one. Their offices are nice, and each person was welcoming and gracious, except for one of them.

    Application

I applied online. The process took a week. I interviewed at American Well (Boston, MA) in December 2017.

    Interview

Took less than a week for a HR phone screen, then I did a technical phone screen, and then they called me in for an in-person interview. In the interview process, I met with: a Senior Architect, whom I felt I was equal to, a Senior Software Engineer, the Director of Engineering, and a Manager of Engineering.

    Interview Questions

    • With the Architect, I was asked some small code questions, and then some overall architecting questions. Then from the software engineer, I got the standard group of java trivia questions that they always ask, then the manager asked me if I knew the difference between Hibernate Level 1 and Level 2 cache, and I didn't know that question.   Answer Question

    Easy Interview

    Interview

Applied after finding a posting online. After a brief phone screen with the HR recruiter , I was asked to come in for an in person interview. The interview lasted about 35 minutes where I met the HR recruiter again for about 5 minutes and an Executive Assistant. They didn't follow up after the interview as they said they would, and did not respond to my thank you email.

    Interview Questions

    • They didn't ask any questions about my experience and the Executive Assistant who interviewed me used the time to complain about her boss than describe the position to me.   Answer Question

    Customer Support Manager Interview

    Average Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at American Well (Boston, MA) in May 2018.

    Interview

Phone screen with recruiter scheduled and rescheduled four times. Phone screen with direct manager scheduled one day after recruiter screen. Email from recruiter 'I heard everything went great' and asking for availability for face to face interview. Have provided dates over a three-week period and have received 'still working on' replies. Could be tough time of year to synch schedules but more likely I am a tier b candidate and am being kept in limbo rather than told 'no thank you'. American Well is an exciting growth company and feedback is in the spirit of improvement. During the course of my career, I have staffed 100+ positions. If a candidate is missing a skill or experience or it just doesn't feel like they would be a good fit, I let them know during the interview process. People are busy on both sides of the process and candidates deserve professional transparency. It's business. Limbo is a frustrating place to be.

    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at American Well (New York, NY).

    Interview

I was contacted by a recruiter via email. We set up a time to do a phone screen.

She emailed me 10 minutes after the scheduled time stating she's was stuck on the phone with another interview. We rescheduled.

That call screen also didn't happen.

This was a disrespectful and unprofessional experience.

    Interview Questions

    Interview

Recruiter called me for my initial interview to inform me that someone accepted an offer for the role already. I have no quarrel with the fact that they found the best person for the job but it is a shame that I wasted my time researching for the days leading up to the interview when a simple email could have prevented me from wasting my time.

    Quality Assurance Interview

    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at American Well (Boston, MA) in July 2016.

    Interview

After a breezy phone screen with two people and a glowing feedback given to my agent, I had an interview scheduled in the company office in downtown Boston. Showed up on time, as usual. First person to interview me, apparently, QA Lead, was 14 min late. No apologies given. During the remaining 15 min of conversation it appeared that I don't have specific skills that they need. Skills they were looking for have never been mentioned neither in job description, nor in a phone screen. Wasted three hours of my consulting time plus $40 for parking. Company employees should get better in valuing their potential consultants time.

    Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at American Well (Boston, MA) in November 2015.

    Interview

The interview wasn't that bad except for the fact that after the interview I did not get a courtesy call or email back that the job had been filled. I had to email them to find out which I personally find very unprofessional.

    Client Relationship Manager Interview

    Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at American Well (Boston, MA) in September 2015.

    Interview

The recruiter was communicative throughout the process. Two initial phone calls went well. The next step was a series of conversations in person. They had 4 candidates in for the role at the same time rotating between rooms on 3 different floors. It felt a bit like getting shuffled around like cattle. There were also a group of current employees standing around the reception desk within earshot of the candidates waiting in the lobby gossiping and speaking negatively about some aspects of the organization - including a current employee with a sheer top and dark colored undergarments. This was not a great impression to make on prospective employee.
