I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Appian (Reston, VA) in Sep 2018
Interview
Overall the entire process was very smooth and everyone I interacted with was very professional. There were four stages to the interview process after I applied online. I was contacted by a recruiter and given an overview of the company and interview process. I was then given a take home coding assignment which I completed in a couple days. After submitting the assignment the recruiter reached out and scheduled a phone interview. The phone screen went over the coding assignment and I answered questions relating to my design decisions. After that, I had a four hour on-site interview. The on-site interview consisted of five rounds of different interviewers. Three of them were technical and I had to either whiteboard a coding challenge or complete it in a coding editor on a laptop. After the on-site I received a generic e-mail from the recruiter stating that I didn't fit their target profile. The recruiter offered to give more details in an e-mail or phone conversation but after I asked to setup that conversation, I never heard back from the recruiter.
Appian seems to put a lot of weight on how you perform during the coding challenges of the on-site interview. Make sure you review your code and optimize it. My advice is to practice a lot of coding challenges before interviewing.
Had 7 rounds of interview. Each about 45 mins. Questions from Data structures, design, previous work will be asked. There will be a culture fit round at the end. Neither easy nor difficult.
