    Application

I applied online. The process took a week. I interviewed at Arcadia (London, England (UK)) in February 2017.

    Interview

Video interview - 5 questions, download app and get on using a link they send you, 30 seconds to think about answer, 1 min 30 seconds to answer but can stop before using all the time. Time to relax between questions. Not as scary as I thought. Gave me 2 days between when I was told and had to do the interview and the deadline but think that's because I applied quite late.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Arcadia (London, England (UK)) in October 2016.

    Interview

There were 3 stages to my interview process. A brief phone interview going through why I applied. A 1:1 which was a painless experience as the interviewers were friendly and welcoming and finally, a second 1:1 with another manager within my department.
Overall the process lasted just over a week and I got a call from their recruitment department in between each 1:1 to see how I was feeling about the job.
Great staff and a good overall experience.

    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Arcadia in September 2016.

    Interview

Online application included questions, then online numerical screening test (Standard). Then had to complete a recorded video interview which was fairly standard except they use a phone app now. I don't like recorded interviews and it makes it harder when you have to hold your phone at the right angle instead of just using a laptop camera.

    Application

I applied through other source. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Arcadia (London, England (UK)) in July 2016.

    Interview

Interview process pretty standard - competency based questions and met with the recruiter. They then however didn't come back to me with an outcome for over a month - really poor as I turned down other opportunities for the role (which I didn't get).

    Buyers Administrative Assistant Interview

Anonymous Employee in London, England (UK)

    Average Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 5+ months. I interviewed at Arcadia (London, England (UK)) in June 2016.

    Interview

I applied for the Arcadia buying graduate role in February and received an offer at the end of July 2016, it is an extremely long process so do be aware of this if you are in your final year of studying! There are several stages to this process and it is a bit of a waiting game!

I firstly applied online: uploaded CV & answered four application questions.

Then shortly after received an email inviting me to complete a maths test. There are so many free websites that offer practice maths test so do practice a lot before doing the real thing! (Especially as the last time i covered maths was at GCSE level!) The test mainly covers basic maths: percentages, ratios etc.

Within a few hours received an email saying i had past the maths test and now my application was 'under review'. A few days later i received another email inviting me to complete a interview video.

This stage was possibly the hardest part as i didn't know what to expect.
This is how it worked: Basically a question will go up on screen and you have 30 seconds to think about your answer, then another 30 seconds to record and video your answer. You are not talking to anyone but you are just being recorded! It was very stressful and only lasted 5 minutes!
Do as much research as possible at this stage (i.e. find out previous video interview questions, ask buyers etc!)
There was only five questions and some needed a longer answer than others (I will list the questions below).

After 1-2 weeks later, i got through to the next round: the assessment centre.
I had a one to one with a member of Arcadia HR, i had to present 2 mood boards featuring 2 key emerging trends for the next season.
I had to do a presentation on these trends covering the following: Where you get your inspiration from and how will this need to be translated to the high street. How each trend will need to be adapted to be a commercial collection for each of the Arcadia brands.
I bought 2 white mood boards and did 1x womenswear & 1x menswear so that i could cover all of the Arcadia brands.
I had another maths test to complete and a competency based interview.

After another month I was successful at my assessment centre and was matched with Topshop & Topman. However there were no BAA vacancies at this time, and I would need to wait until i could have my final interview.

At the start of July i finally received a call for my final interview with the Topshop buying team.
It was with a Buyer and a member of Topshop HR. I had to prepare a SS17 Trend board and prepare for more competency based questions.

By the end of July I received an offer for the BAA role.

It is a really long process but if you are determined enough to working in buying at Topshop, you will get there. I found that i was thinking about each stage a lot and when i was playing the waiting game - i simply emailed or rang to keep in communication (Not too much as you don't want to pester)

I got extremely nervous before each interview (mainly anxiety & want for the job!) but the interviewers were very friendly and they ask questions to help you which made the process much easier.
If you have relevant buying work experience, done your research, know your CV and have a positive attitude - the interview will work in your favour!

I hope this helps someone- as when i was going through the whole process i found there wasn't very much insider knowledge!

    Merchandise Administrative Assistant Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in London, England (UK)
    No Offer
    Negative Experience
    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Arcadia (London, England (UK)) in May 2016.

    Interview

Online video interview, I applied for the second time since I panicked the first time and closed my laptop in the middle of the interview. I am a very confident person and never had any problem with interviews in the past. The problem with Arcadia is that you do not have a real person in front of you, and have a limited time to record your answer which makes the whole process extremely stressful. I unfortunately panicked again the second time and feel very frustrated now. I would have loved to work for Arcadia but this process did not allow me to showcase my skills and personality. If you feel at ease in front of a camera then go for it, otherwise I do not recommend applying at all.

    Merchandising Administrative Assistant Interview

Anonymous Employee in London, England (UK)
    Accepted Offer
    Positive Experience
    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 3+ months. I interviewed at Arcadia (London, England (UK)) in April 2016.

    Interview

I first applied online, and had to answer 3 questions about why you want to work here and why the role. You then have to complete a maths test. I found this very easy, compared to others I've done in the past. You just need to know simple multiplication, division and percentages. Next you get invited to complete a video interview where you get asked 6 -7 questions and have 30 seconds to prepare for this interview. I was contacted within the next day or so saying I was successful and would need to come in to do an assessment day.

I had a week to prepare for my assessment day with HR. Its individual so no group exercises. I first had to present my PEST Analysis I had to do for Arcadia, then a maths test (few of the same questions from the online maths test), then my interview. I was told at the end of the day that I was through to the final round. They let you choose your brand preferences, as the final interview will be with the brand you will work for.

You final interview is with two people from the brand you are given. For this you need to prepare a SWOT analysis for the brand specifically, and then an interview. I found out about a week or two later that they were going to offer me the position.

    Interview Questions

    • The interview questions are quite similar at each stage. They ask your understanding of the role. Why you want to work for Arcadia. Why you are suited to the role (what skills/experiences you can bring). What you would do if a product line is selling well, or not selling well. The final interview they ask more in-depth questions about the specific brand.   Answer Question
