Application

I applied online. The process took 3+ months. I interviewed at Arizona State University (Tempe, AZ) in July 2010.

Interview

A very lengthy process; one may not hear back for an initial phone interview for two months, and after the phone interview the process still moves slowly. Interview committee was made up of university staff and professors, and the questions were more informal and behavioral than corporate and cut-and-dry. Phone interview generally consists of a conference call with 3 other individuals, representing interested parties in the position itself. As it is an educational institution, interviewees should be prepared to answer questions about their views on undergraduate education and the like.

Negotiation

No negotiation. Salary range at the university level is fixed, and I was hired at the top end of the advertised salary range.
