Arlington Public Schools Interview Questions

I was invited via zoom to have a 30 min meeting with admission committee. The faculty members were helpful and supportive and gave me an overview about their program and ask me several questions

This was a Behavioral interview. Round robin questions from about 9 different staff members including principals, vps, and teachers. Structure was very organized. This first interview was completed over zoom.

The principal called me and asked if I could meet in person for an interview the following day. I was asked five or six questions and told they would be in touch. I received an email a few hours after the interview saying they'd decided to go with someone else. It felt like I was being interviewed to fill a quota and they never actually wanted to hire me from the start.

The interview lasted around 30 minutes and consisted of 11 questions. The questions focused on my approach to teaching social studies, teaching diverse student populations, and my approaches to collaboration and lesson planning.

Lasted about 45 minutes, very standard questions, very easy and open conversation . Enjoyed my experience, offered a position on the spot. Was laid back and not very machine like- interviewed with principals instead of the typical HR team.

They used an outside hiring firm. The person that interviewed me was very nice and extremely informative about the job and the interview process. He made sure I knew what was required of the role and what to expect. I chose not to go to the next round, but I will say the interview process is strenuous.

I received a phone call to set up the interview (remotely). Within a week, I was offered the job. HR documentation and orientation were completed. The final contract was sent but sat in somebody's email longer than necessary due to Covid absences, etc. Finally, everything worked out and I was on board.

Fair and open. The principal and teachers were sincerely interested in my background and what I could bring to their community. They were thoughtful listeners and open to my own ideas and goals.

A music teacher who was going on maternity leave found me through a contact and emailed me to see if I was available to be her long-term substitute teacher. Finding a sub, especially a long-term one, is hard, so because I had a degree in the field, she offered me the job over email. I met with her over video to discuss pay and hours, and started a few months later.
