I applied online. I interviewed at Bedford Stuyvesant New Beginnings Charter School
Telephone screening went well. They have an outside recruitment person. In person interview and demo lesson followed by debrief with hiring team. It was a bit rushed and felt a bit disingenuous. Although they have a hiring team present a lot was happening and they seemed a bit distracted.
- How do you think that went?

I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Bedford Stuyvesant New Beginnings Charter School (Brooklyn, NY) in Apr 2018
The interview process was quite comprehensive. It involved a methodical phone interview with many questions (a few were challenging), but after having multiple interviews over the week, I was feeling confident in talking about my expertise. Within a short time, I received a message regarding setting up an in-person interview. Before heading to the interview, they emailed me requesting that I provide documents on the type of work I have been involved in, references, and data analysis. The actual in-person iterview involved a few one-to-ones, a group format, observations, and debriefs. The flow felt logical. The people were/are very down to earth, perceptive, and talented.
- Describe a challenging situation with a student. How did you handle it?

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Bedford Stuyvesant New Beginnings Charter School (Brooklyn, NY)
The first step was a 20 minute phone interview. After that, I was invited to the school for a 20 minute demo-lesson. I went a little bit over, but it went well. After that I met with several other school administrators and answered a few more questions about my background and experience. After that was over, they asked me for my salary requirements, a good sign, and I went home. The offer came a few days later.
- They asked me how I would deal with classroom management issues in the classroom.

I applied online. I interviewed at Bedford Stuyvesant New Beginnings Charter School
There was a phone interview, a 20 minute teaching demo in front of students that I would potentially teach and work with. This was followed by an in-person interview right afterwards.
- What is your teaching history?

I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Bedford Stuyvesant New Beginnings Charter School (Brooklyn, NY) in Dec 2016
The interview process had several layers. It began with a phone interview with the recruitment consultant working with the school From there it progressed to an in person interview with the Education Director. After meeting with him, I did a video interview with the Senior Management team.
- As I was making a shift from a corporate environment to the education sector, how did I plan to learn what was required for each of the roles I would be recruiting for in the school.
