I had to reconstruct my thinking processes and analyze the various inferences I had made to arrive at my hypothesis. I think he wanted to see that I wasn't devoted to one answer and could think creatively around a problem.

Right or wrong is a matter of perspective. In what context am I wrong? Am I wrong because of my existence? Am I wrong I choose to interview with your company? I'm wrong simply because you told me I'm wrong? You don't get the right to decide if I'm wrong, unless, I also get the right to decide whether you are right or wrong.
