Interview

I had an initial phone call with the recruiter. Then a Skype Interview with the HR Director. I was told if successful the next stage would be in Malta. I was never contacted again, and I did not receive a regrets email.

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Betsson Group (Budapest (Hungary)) in March 2018.

Overall, I am very pleased by the experience while interviewing with Betsson. They were really supportive and flexible during the whole process. They even offered me extra time to finish the technical exercise due to luck of time from my side. I met with some interesting people and we had a nice relaxed conversation.

During the technical interview, even though the role was front end focused they only asked Angular related questions. Nothing about HTML semantics, document structure, DOM manipulation, CSS architecture, assets management, CSS, JS processors, browsers, responsiveness, UX, testing, e.t.c. In my opinion focusing only in one very specific technology will not give to the interviewer the whole spectrum of the knowledge that a candidate holds.

The job post was pretty clear but during the interview the impression I got for the position was a bit different. The "Nice To Have" described in the job post turned out to be "Must Have" and vise versa.

Applied online, got an e-mail about an interview - they were flexible with the scheduling. Had the interview over the phone with HR specialist and Tech Lead. I don't think it went good, but they didn't even bother to contact me with any kind of feedback, ever.

I had two separate interviews via Skype, the first with the head of the trading team, the second about a week later with human resources. They were friendly, informal and spoke highly of the company and work environment.

After explaining my 2 years of work experience and answering the interviewer's subject matter questions he clearly stated that I was overqualified for the position.

He also mentioned that he regularly micromanages people who don't measure up to his expectations (whatever that means).

Received a rejection letter a few days later.

I applied via Linkedin through a Headhunter. A quick interview about specifics of my Database Knowledge with Head hunter. Then role specific questionnaire offline. Then interview with technical team. I was given take home assignment. Followup interview with one of engineers asking more specific Data modelling questions referring to my assignment's solution.

Was contacted from Betsson because of my open application online. The position seemed interesting and wanted to pursue process. Around 5 interviews online with Skype. One day interviews at Sliema, Malta with 5 different interviewers. After last meeting got understanding that everything went well but after waiting more than week with no answer from the company needed to chase them for the answer. Didn't get really any reason later why offer was declined. Would have been productive to get some kind of answer what was not right for position.

Unlike most companies, I got an email first asking when it would be a good time to set a phone interview (I can't count the number of times where companies just pick up the phone and call), after the initial phone call, I had an interview over skype, then onsite interview for a little over half a day

The interview process includes several stages:
- HR Introduction
There is nothing special, just got some explanation about company. I like HR people from Betsson.

- Technical assignment
Got a task to make a middle-difficulty app (Take search request from user, then make an request to some backend and show the result as a ListView)

- Technical Interview
Was discussing my solution in android development in general with couple of supper nice guys.

- Cultural Interview
Cultural part took some tricky questions about social issues solving.

- References checking
I provided them with of phone numbers of couple guys which I worked before.

- Salary negotiations
I managed to rise a little the initial offer.

There was no that stupid questions like "Why do you think you do deserve this job?" The whole process was nice and pain-less. Betsson really do not want to stress you to much, I think it is a good place to work.
