Difficult Interview

The process took 4+ weeks. I interviewed at Boeing (Everett, WA) in January 2011.

This was my second interview with Boeing. There was a six month gap between interviews. I applied on line using the resume builder on the Boeing website. It is important that you tell the truth on the resume, but you need to use the key words from the job description so the software will select your resume. Once your resume is selected, you will be contacted for an interview. The interview questions will be based on situational circumstances from your work or personal experience. The important thing is, they want to make sure you can get along with coworkers, that you can solve conflicts with people. You can handle issues related to your job, For example they will want you to explain a problem you had with a coworker, how you handled it and what was the outcome. Explain a situation at work where you had to work within a team, give an example of what you worked on and the outcome. Prepare for all kinds of scenario's and what you are going to say and how you will react to their questions. I was interviewed by two managers. The main thing is relax and be yourself.

Interview Questions

  • Tell us a situation where you led a team, what did you do and what was the outcome?   Answer Question

I was not able to negotiate my salary. The starting wage was 15 per hour. I had previous experience at Boeing 17 years ago, so they hired me at the wage I had at the company before at $17.04 plus a .75 second shift differential. This is a IAM Union job, so I receive a COLA every 3 months and a .50 step increase every six months. After one year I am up from $17.78 to $19.93. This amount includes a couple of COLA adjustments, two step increases and a 4% general wage increase. The benefits alone are worth another ten dollars per hour. Once you are employed for six years you go to the top of your pay scale, which could amount to a 10 dollar an hour increase after six years. The main thing is get in the door, get the job, any job and then you can move around. They will help you with education and training. Good luck,
Boeing is a great company.
