    Producer Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in Westwood, MA
    Declined Offer
    Negative Experience
    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Brown & Brown Insurance (Westwood, MA).

    Interview

Spoke to an incredibly pompous recruiter from Brown & Brown. She spent two-thirds of the interview pontificating about how great Brown & Brown is because they are a public company with over 1000 employees. After this point she asked me why I was qualified to work at Brown & Brown. After each sentence she interrupted me and told me why I was wrong about my 12 years experience as a Licensed Insurance Producer. I realized that the interview was a waste of time, as I definitely did not want to work with this type of organization. Brown & Brown has a poor reputation as an employer and insurance broker. This young lady proudly described an environment that sounded like Boiler Room. I havent heard of too many people staying with them for long. Before I ended the interview and told her I wasnt interested in applying for the position, she told me that their Base Salary was $40,000 for Producers. I was hired the following week with a base salary of $85,000 (50% New Business, 25 Renewal Business)

Regional president got his job at the company from a fraternity brother.
Being a middle aged, Hispanic female, with plenty of documented sales successes at three Fortune 500 companies, I’m guessing I wasn’t the right “fit”. Only sorry I wasn’t a middle aged white male who came from money.
Didn’t meet anyone of any ethnicity other than white.

    Application

I applied in-person. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Brown & Brown Insurance (Tallahassee, FL) in June 2019.

    Interview

I received a call from the recruiter for the company and was told they were impressed with my experience in insurance and wanted to talk to me (Tallahassee, FL) office. I had a phone interview, and was recommended to do a personal interview. Did a second interview, which led to a third interview with another manager. I ended up going to a fourth interview with the company back with the first manager. At the end, they decided not to hire me due to they were concerned that I would leave them for another position, and I have held my current job for 10+ years. I am ok with not getting the position, but I do wish it didn't take them 4 interviews for them to figure it out, just be aware this could happen if you interview for this particular office.
