I applied online. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at CDW (Chicago, IL) in Jan 2012
Interview
The interview process began and ended within a two month process from application submission to acceptance of the job offer. I was informed that CDW was hiring and was instructed on how to apply online. I recieved a call from the HR department shortly thereafter and was instructed on what would be covered on my phone interview the next week and what I should do to prepare. The phone interview was fairly detailed and encouraged creative responses to challenging scenarios. After the phone interview was deemed satisfactory, a follow up 1 on 1 interview with a hiring manager was coordinated. That interview was much like the phone interview however the hiring manager is looking for creative responses that show a well prepared interviewer who has a firm understanding on what the company does and what is expected of the position (information that was provided by the HR recruiter who conducted the phone interview). In the 1 on 1 interview the hiring manager wants to see the candidates personality come out and make a connection with the hiring manager. Most times an offer is issued right at the end of the interview.

Question 1
How would I handle a situation in which I am on the phone with a customer who does regular business with me, when a customer who I have been trying to reach unsuccesfully calls me?
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at CDW (Tampa, FL)
Interview
I had a friend currently working there and really sold it to me. He then sent me a 'refer a friend' email where I sent in my resume and took a pre-employment personality type test (to see if your choices and beliefs match the company's values). Next was a phone interview and face to face interview with a regional sales director and direct sales account manager

Question 1
All very behavioral questions. For example "describe a time you yourself or a coworker made a mistake at work and what you did to resolve the issue for the customer?"
I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at CDW
Interview
Applied online through indeed.com. Was contacted by the HR department the following day. I interviewed with the hiring manager the following day and was hired. Extremely easy interview. Scenario based questions. Nothing hard at all. Just tell them your really competitive and you love money and you will probably get the job.

Question 1
What would you do if you had a client call you and tell you they just found the printer that you sold them yesterday online at a lower price?
I applied online. The process took 4 days. I interviewed at CDW (Chicago, IL) in Mar 2015
Interview
There were a few short phone interviews where I did personality testing and other interviews. After two phone interviews they brought me in for an in person interview. The in person interview had my eventual hiring manager and a sales coach in on it - they ran through my resume in front of me, asked about previous experiences, situational questions. The experience was overall not difficult, but I relied heavily on previous experiences where I had worked with customers and had to calm them down if something had gone poorly in the course of my business.
The main thing to keep in mind is that your job will be developing relationships with customers - remember to tailor your information to this end and you will do fine.
