Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took a week. I interviewed at CIBC (Toronto, ON (Canada)) in June 2016.

Interview

The interview process was fairly long, lasted almost 75-80 minutes. The questions asked were mostly based on technical aspects of the role, knowledge of the finance sector and previous experiences in similar roles. Basically went over whole points on the resume, touching each task I did in previous roles. Interviewer was very friendly explained a lot about what they do, what they want the candidate to do, expectations, day in the job..etc. Behavioural questions or questions based on soft skills weren't there as I was interviewed by the Senior Finance Manager.

Interview Questions

  • SQL skills and experiences
    Bond Market Knowledge
    Knowledge of treasury products
    Finance terms
    VBA and Macros experience
Previous roles related to the role applied
Real life challenges on previous roles
Any likes or dislikes on previous roles

Pretty standard questions in all rounds. Nothing too complicated. They mostly care about fit rather than technical. There was a mixer after first rounds which was really cool.
