The interview process went extremely well. The company contacted me via email about a phone interview. The phone interview questions are all based on the STAR approach - situation, task, action, result. Basically, you use specific experiences from your past to describe how you reacted to certain situations. Exactly two weeks later, I was contacted about an on-site interview to be conducted in a week. The hotel and travel were paid for, and they assigned me a host for the duration of my interview. This is a person working in the division for which you are applying. They take you out to dinner the night before the interview, and take you to the various interview sites throughout the day. My on-site interview consisted of three one-on-one interviews (mostly based on the STAR approach with a couple of resume questions), lunch with my host and other employees on-site, and a drug test. There are a lot of people at the one site (over 4500) but overall everyone seemed friendly and to enjoy the work that they were doing. Caterpillar definitely seems like a great place to work.
