    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at Dashlane in May 2015.

    Interview

The interview was simple, nothing out of the ordinary. First a phone interview with basic questions about me, followed by a personality tests, after that there were several coding interviews online with different people before flying for a face to face meting in Paris with the developers and management, followed by a last interview with the CEO before extending an offer.

    Interview Questions

    • Algorithm coding tests, how do I see my self in the company, where do you see yourself,. The coding test was quite easy.   Answer Question

    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 2+ weeks. I interviewed at Dashlane (Paris (France)) in August 2018.

    Interview

First phone screen then phone call. The interview went bad. Our perception of the SM responsabilities are very different (coaching the team vs be a tech lead). They stop the process with no explanations.

    Interview

== It All Started Great ==
    Sent out my resume.
Quick follow-up from their main recruiter.
Long discussion on the phone confirmed potential great match.
Coordinated a video call with their lead software engineer.

Video call took place, and went as good as it could.
Mostly a chance to present myself as an engineer, discuss my experience and to hear about Dashlane's own engineering culture / stack etc...
Great call by all my own standards:
Stayed one step ahead on most both technical and business subjects by providing sound insights after reverse engineering their tech and business model.
Went as far sharing and discussing an interesting bug I'd found and documented while trying out the company's product.
Call ended as expected with a confirmation of a mutual agreement we should take things further,: I would be hearing from Dashlane soon to move on with the process.

    == But then Nothing ==
    Dashlane neither followed up.
Neither the lead engineer, nor the recruiter.
When I politely inquired what had been happening through the recruiter, I was offered a non-sensical 'I was in vacation and I'll try to get a better feedback'.
My reply was simply to suggest not bother with, the point having been done already.

    == My take ==
Looking at the reviews on Glassdoor, I seem to be at odds with the otherwise raving reports.
Safe of me failing to act professionally though, I'd expected them to demonstrate the same minimum of professional courtesy I always provide and come to expect from top players in the industry.
Years of experience as a software engineer have taught me to consider the lack of professional courtesy as a strong red flag about a company's health, with strong implications about both its ability to treat its employees decently, and its own ability to stay in business in the long term.

    Interview Questions

    • Extensive discussion about software engineering and development - questions about the different technologies used along the full stack of a typical web application, with extra focus on javascript plugins based products.   Answer Question

    Project Manager Interview

    Application

I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Dashlane (Paris (France)) in July 2018.

    Interview

1hour phone call with the manager of the future hired candidate. The call was quite classical with a presentation of the company, the team and a personal presentation and a second part with my presentation and some exchanges about the way I see the role and my expectations.

Quite a pleasant call expect the fact that I haven’t received any news from them after that even if they told me they would give me an answer the week after and even after I ask for some news by email. A short email with a simple no even without any explanation would have been the minimum of respect to show to any candidate after an interview.
Apparently some candidate receive detailed feedbacks for a no, I wonder why I haven’t received a single email...

    Interview Questions

    • Questions about my experience, especially the way I act today as a product manager, how I choose the features to be developed and how I follow the result of the product evolution with KPI.   Answer Question

    Application

I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at Dashlane (Paris (France)) in May 2017.

    Interview
