    Application

I applied online. The process took 3+ months. I interviewed at Deutsche Bank (Jacksonville, FL).

    Interview

Pretty quick. Phone screen, 1st round, 2nd round, and an hr phone interview. HR interview was the most challenging with very text book behavioral type questions. Tell me a time when.... What is your definition of success, etc. overall a good experience.

    • What is your definition of success? Are you mentally prepared to leave your current job?   Answer Question

    Equity Research Associate Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in Jacksonville, FL
    Declined Offer
    Negative Experience
    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied in-person. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Deutsche Bank (Jacksonville, FL) in September 2016.

    Interview

Brought me down to Jacksonville overnight for an interview. Forgot to mention to me that they DON'T REIMBURSE FOR MEALS. What? I've never heard of that before. Also, I checked out the kitchen. They provide nothing to their employees. I didn't even see bottles of water. Now I understand that this is all food-related, and that's not typically how you decide on a job, but I think both of those signs are particularly telling. I think it best describes the state of the company and the (lack of) respect it has for it's employees -- at least in Jacksonville.

The interview itself was your typical research interview. They really have to sell you to get to Jacksonville and it feels like they knew this.

    Interview Questions

    • Mostly fit questions. Also lots of "tell me about a time.."   Answer Question

    Application

The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Deutsche Bank (Jacksonville, FL) in September 2016.

    Interview

I interviewed at Deutsche's Jacksonville site and contra to the previous review, I had a great experience. Interview was straightforward and common feel of interviews on the street; was interviewed by MD, VP, assoc, and an analyst. It didn't seem like Deutsche spared any expense on Jacksonville as the site is nice with a full gym and some other common BB amenities. For what it's worth, they did feed us lunch. Not sure what the previous reviewer was talking about, but hey, what firm would want to hire someone more concerned about being offered water and reimbursed instead of focusing on getting the offer? I feel bad for someone with that level of entitlement. Obviously that previous reviewer's hunger for food to be provided outweighed their hunger to interview well and provide quality research for a firm.

    Interview Questions

    • Was asked how I would value companies in varying sectors. Was asked how I would model maint-capex (MCX) for a frac sand MLP earlier in the year. There were some fit questions based around my story in making it from a non-target to a BB interview. Was also asked a little about current market environment and to pitch a few stocks.   1 Answer

    Financial Analyst Interview

    Anonymous Interview Candidate
    No Offer
    Negative Experience
    Average Interview

    Application

I applied through college or university. I interviewed at Deutsche Bank in September 2016.

    Interview

Applied through my campus career center, heard back within a few weeks and scheduled an interview on campus. The interview was maybe 30 minutes long, they weren't particularly outgoing or friendly and I almost felt rushed. Not too many behavioral questions, mostly just walking through my resume and the general "why should we hire you?" question

    Interview Questions

    • How do you like to stay up to date with current events n the financial sector and describe one story that is especially interesting to you right now   Answer Question

I applied through college or university. The process took a week. I interviewed at Deutsche Bank (San Francisco, CA) in September 2016.

    Interview

The first round was conducted on campus. It was a 30 minute interview with 2 team members. Largely technical with focus on valuation, accounting, and your awareness of the technology industry. The superday was up in San Francisco. The format consisted of four 30 minute interviews with 2 team members each. Only one of the interviews was technical while the rest were behavioral.

Java Developer Assistant Vice President Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in New York, NY
    No Offer
    Negative Experience
    Average Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 4+ weeks. I interviewed at Deutsche Bank (New York, NY).

    Interview

Was very disconnected and slow. Average time to get a reply from the HR was over a week. The interviewers were nice to deal with.
    Applied over LinkedIn
HR contacted over Mail asking generic questions
Round 1 Telephonic a week later
Guy was from the UK team
Basic java questions, sql, collections, multi threading and concurrency packages. Answered everything flawlessly
Round 2 telephonic 2 weeks after first round
    UK team
Java questions, SQL, math questions, multi threading, collections, garbage collection
towards the end the Interviewer got disconnected and never bothered joining the call, which was pretty rude and unprofessional.
Answered most things except for "how to find square root of a number" this completely stumped me.

The communication process died in midway and had to follow up multiple time with the HR to get a response which was a rejection stating they selected someone else.

Overall not a good experience, not sure if the HR teams are over worked or what ! but communication was absolutely miserable

    Anonymous Employee in Jacksonville, FL
    Accepted Offer
    Positive Experience
    Average Interview

    Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Deutsche Bank (Jacksonville, FL) in August 2016.

    Interview

I had separate interviews with four people total on two different days (first round was with three people back to back, second round was just one person). They were all very nice and not intimidating! You definitely need to be on your A-game though and be personable. They want to invest in good talent so you have to show that you are a go-getter.

    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied through college or university. The process took 2+ weeks. I interviewed at Deutsche Bank (Tuscaloosa, AL).

    Interview

Panel Interview. Both people came off as very arrogant and not engaging in conversation. Asked questions that you would only have answers for if you had actually competed the internship. Interview lasted around 45 min to an hour. Came out of the room totally turned off. It took around 2 weeks to hear back and get an answer of their decision.
