    I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at EY (New York, NY) in February 2011.

    I applied through the company website. I got a call from recruiter within 3 days (on a tuesday). She interviewed me over th phone for 30 minutes. Later she scheduled an interview with a senior manager day after (on a Thursday), which was followed by series of 1:1 interview with partners and principals (on a friday). Total 8 interviews (2 Phone + 6 1:1). Later I was informed on Wednesday next week that the interviewers liked me. they wanted to make an offer. After almost 2 weeks actual offer was made. later they started the Background investigation and rest of the formalities. Interview was more about how well I could sell my resume to them than a pure technical one.

    Interviews usually lasts between 1 day to 2 months. First round of interview is either done by a Senior Consultant or a Consulting Manager if a direct recruit or by a EY recruiter or preferred recruitment partner. Most interviews (after initial HR screening) have one business interview to discuss your interest, English skills, communication, Ego, depth of knowledge, and past consulting experience. Next round involves a round with either a Senior Manager, or a Director, and/or a Client line manager, depending on the urgency of the role (in that order). Next round is with the service line Partner, followed by HR details gathering round.

    The first step is a call with a recruiter for qualification, essentially they are insuring you are a qualified candidate and they will schedule a true first round. The first round is generally a phone call with a Manager or Senior Manager, in which they will ask you about your experiences and interview you based on the role you apply for. You generally will then attend one or several face to face interviews that will be technical, behavioral and may include a formal or informal case study.

    Interview

    Came in through campus recruiting from my MBA program. There were lots of networking opportunities leading up to the application and interviews, so I had plenty of time to connect with employees and get to know the company culture. First round interview was on campus. One hour: half case, half behavioral. The case is pretty straight forward; I didn't feel like there was a 'gotcha' or trick moment in the case like with some firms. The behavioral part was very conversational with typical questions. Second round interviews are conducted usually in Dallas and had candidates from around the country interviewing for several practice areas. There are three one-on-one interviews with partners or senior managers - 2 are behavioral and the third is a more involved case that what was presented in the first round interview. Finally, there is a group case interview in which you are matched with 2 or 3 other candidates and presented with a business problem that you have an hour to create a short presentation of recommendations while being observed by a small group of senior managers or partners. There is not a long wait to hear back from interviews - usually candidates are notified within a week. The interview process is thorough, but fair. None of the interviewers came off as intimidating - everyone made me feel welcome and at ease, and all interviewers were as interested in answering any questions I might have as in asking me questions.

    Interview process was unethical and unprofessional as there was no prior notice about telephonic rounds and manager telephonic round as well both happened in the same day. Manager round was uncomfortable as the lady was not friendly.
    I just did not like the overall process of hiring.

    After a short call with HR regarding situation a 1 hour telephone interview was arranged-most of the interview was discussing my CV and therefore candidate specific. I then got called the next day saying i was successful and was being scheduled for the next assessment centre.
