Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4+ months. I interviewed at Esri (Redlands, CA).

Interview

I was told I was being interviewed for a UI Design position for a special project, and that there were 3 positions they were considering me for. From the beginning, I was told there would be 3-4 phone interviews and then an on-site interview if they went well. almost 3 months and 6 phone interviews later, I was finally flown out to Redlands for an on-site. It was an intense day, where I immediately did a technical interview and then gave an hour-long presentation of my previous work, then did 5 more interviews in person. They told me they would let me know the following Monday or Tuesday whether or not I would get a position. Instead, on that Monday, they asked for an additional phone interview that week. It was then another week and a half before I finally heard that they did not have a position for me at the time. The whole process took about 4 months. Thankfully, by the time they finally informed me of this, I had already determined that I didn't want to work there.

Interview Questions

  • One that stood out included an hour-long session where I was asked to explain as much development terminology and technology as I could.   Answer Question

    Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Esri in June 2018.

    Interview

The application process is TERRIBLE. The recruiter didn't contact me at a scheduled time and then she gave me all the excuses when I contacted, saying her meeting with hiring manager pushed back. 1st phone screen was fine but then 2nd phone screen was horrible again, I didn't get any calls (I wasted my time waiting for the call and organizing the interview), and the terrible recruiter didn't know what was going on with the interviewer. I had to wait several more days for 2nd phone call with a totally different person. And the thing is.. I'm not sure if this person is supposed to interview candidates or if it was just their backup plan, but this person was totally unorganized—asked me unimportant and weird questions, there were multiple minutes of silence where she didn't seem to be prepared for the interview. She seemed very confused about what to ask, what to look at (in my portfolio),
