Application

I applied online. The process took 3+ months. I interviewed at F5 Networks (Boulder, CO) in April 2014.

Interview

This was a multi-staged process that took a few months ... first with a phone interview, then a group interview, then about a month later a series of several 1:1 interviews. I had hoped the process was a little faster paced than it was. Overall, it covered broad array of topics in a relatively newer field, DevOps, which essentially merges two realms (Networking and AppDev; L2-L7).

Interview Questions

  • Not too unexpected, but the more nuanced question surrounded explanations of how the TCP protocol operates in certain conditions.   1 Answer

Negotiation

Was fairly straightforward. Dealt with the HR folks with any questions or negotiations I had and they were willing to see what they could do, if anything.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at F5 Networks in December 2014.

    Interview

Applied online, took a long time to get the phone screen scheduled because the HR personel was on vacation. Finally, had a phone interview after 3 weeks of application. It was like a typical screening interview touching various topics on networking and system (linux). Then I flew to Seattle and had 1:1. The onsite was 2 hours technical and then managerial/behavioral of 30 mins each.
The good things is not only they pay for the flight but also the taxi, meal etc.

    Interview

I met with the manager to talk about the position. I had done this job previously and was well familiar with it.
Then I was interviewed for 2 hours by two very senior engineers.
I was drilled on my network protocol knowledge, programming skills and systems administration knowledge.

    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at F5 Networks in August 2015.

    Interview

The process consisted of two phone interviews since I was applying for a job in a new office with no engineers on site. First one was a short phone screen with some general and some basic technical questions. Second one was quite deep technical interview with two engineers. Questions about networking protocols all the way up from ethernet to http and then some linux questions.
