    Phone Screener followed by in-person callback. Really nice and interesting people . HR is slow and has average to below average communication. Changed my interview schedule one hour before interview. Canned rejection e-mail after callback from someone I never communicated with left a sour taste in my mouth. If you bring someone back for a callback interview and decide not to move forward, at least have the communication come from someone they have interacted with. This made me feel like my time was not valued.

    The interview process was very in-depth for a summer associate position. I interviewed with six individuals, some associates and some partners. All were very nice. I appreciated the one-on-one style, but after three hours and many repeated questions, I felt a little overwhelmed.

    Interview

    Phone screen, online skills testing (Prove It), followed by video-conducted interviews with a staff recruiter and a secretarial manager. If you are not used to video interviews, it is a bit awkward. I thought some of the questions were a bit strange and I guess I failed to see how they were relevant to a legal secretary position. Was told at the end that the next step would be an interview with partner-level attorneys but never got invited back. Didn't receive a formal rejection or follow up yet, either.

    • Tell me about a time you provided great customer service to a customer. I stumbled here, because I would never call a legal services client a customer and wouldn't exactly classify a legal secretary position, even one that required client contact, a customer service job. When I answered that I feel like the best way to provide "customer service" to clients is helping attorneys maintain and produce superior work product, I was asked for specifics. I came back with working all weekend during trial and got the impression that example was not specific enough, too. Many of the questions were phrased like this and felt vague and not directly related to my skills, legal procedural knowledge, or my specific experience working in law firms.   Answer Question

    Interview

    Very long. It took one month to hear back from the time I put in my resume. At that time I did a phone interview. After another month I was asked to come in for an in-person interview. The interview itself was very straightforward and both the recruiting manager and hiring manager were pleasant and easy to talk with. After a week and a half I received a form email that they were moving forward with other candidates. While the long time between interviews and hearing from the organization was frustrating it also gave me a chance to really think about whether the position was a good fit for me and that was helpful.

    straight forward interview, with purpose of bringing in the attorney to do the specific job in mind, many panels to go through, some are through telephone conference due to the multiple locations of the company, no hard questions, most likely through the network to establish the first screening

    Firm requests cover letter, resume, transcript, and writing sample. I followed up after not hearing back for about 2 weeks and was told that someone would be calling. After about 5 weeks after I initially spoke with them, I was called in regarding a document review project. Faegre has an odd conflict check form, they ask if you have ever worked on a case against them, which I had. After talking with them a couple of times, they didn't call me in, possibly due to the fact I had worked against Faegre prior to this.
