    Customer Service Representative Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in Portland, CT
    No Offer
    Negative Experience
    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Family Dollar Stores (Portland, CT) in December 2017.

    Interview

Initially I applied online. I received a call from the assistant manager a day after I submitted the application to come in for an interview. The assistant manager was the person conducting the interview on his day off (they were understaffed). The interviewer only asked me a few basic questions. It was mostly comprised of him talking about the job description and duties of the job itself. I was told there would be a second round of interviews with the manager; however I never received a call back, so I’m assuming I didn't get the job.

    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied in-person. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Family Dollar Stores (New Haven, CT) in September 2017.

    Interview

I walked in to follow up on my application and the manager told me to come in the next day for an interview. He didn't really ask much he was mostly telling me about what I would be doing and how to handle suspicious customers when working a night shift. He said if he chose me I would receive a call before Friday the next week. A week has gone by and unfortunately he has moved on with other candidates.

    Application

I applied through other source. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Family Dollar Stores in May 2017.

    Interview

I went in asked for a manager, an associate guided me to the back of the building in a warehouse setting. I interviewed directly with the District Manager. I felt like I was in a shark tank. It was ok, felt uneasy and a bit unwelcomed. He said someone will call me but I don't think that is gonna happen. He did ask me if I wanted to be a CSR if not a manager I said yes but was bit disappointed seeing as my qualifications and education level is above CSR standards yet alone assistant manager but in the end it's a race game. People look at your race regardless in Charlotte, NC. I just happen to look hispanic being interviewed by a African American man.

    Assistant Store Manager Interview

    Negative Experience
    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied in-person. The process took a week. I interviewed at Family Dollar Stores (Fort Lauderdale, FL) in March 2017.

    Interview

Ft. Lauderdale store. Applied in-store on their terminal, there was no manager or assistant manager around.. Got called 2 days later, interview scheduled for Saturday. I arrive, again no manager. Employee calls her and says it's rescheduled for Wednesday. I arrive, store closed for repairs. What a big, fat waste of time an effort. The store itself seemed badly run, with employees loitering and texting. Management was non existant and apparently has questionable work and customer satisfaction ethics.

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Family Dollar Stores in June 2016.

    Interview

Honestly the worst interview I have ever had . The interviewer was so unprofessional and so disrespectful. She started the interview with the basic tell me about yourself and that's literally the only question I got because after that she just started drilling me about how I have no experience so why do I want this job ? Why do I want to work here ? You don't even have any experience why did you apply. Even if I do get called again I'm not going nor am I accepting an offer if I do get one .!

    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Family Dollar Stores (Matthews, NC).

    Interview

I would like to recommend changes to the interview process. A second phone interview by a manager is needed in order to avoid wasted time for both parties. I experienced a bad interview with family dollar. A couple members of management were bothered because my experience was not equivalent to retail. A certain red head senior manager was horrible and immature displaying frequent eye rolls, scoffs, and behavior to try to belittle me. As a fellow human being, you should always show respect and display pleasant behavior no matter what your status is within a company. After all, your not curing cancer by any means. Showing common courtesy should be part of the company's profile. I feel like you should interview someone respectfully and simply not contact them for the position.
