    Office Assistant Interview

    Anonymous Employee in Fresno, CA

    Positive Experience
    Average Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Fresno Unified School District (Fresno, CA).

    Interview

After being a temp or sub for a few months I submit many applications to jobs I felt my experience was relevant. From speaking with others is usually ideal to apply first where you've subbed before and may be known.
A few days after the job closes and is removed from the website I received a call inviting me to interview.
A panel consisting of the principle, vice principle, office manager and a "community member" usually a parent volunteer ask pre-arranged questions set up by the district office.
It's serious and very little small talk until after the questions were finished when the mood became lighter and more comfortable.
Later that morning I was offered the job and was able to make arrangements with the main office for payroll, badge and contact signing within 3 days.
The last position I held took over a month to get a call but this opening was needing to be filled asap.

    Substitute Teacher Interview

    Anonymous Employee
    Accepted Offer
    Neutral Experience
    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied online. The process took 4+ weeks. I interviewed at Fresno Unified School District.

    Interview

The application process was horrible. There is only one application for every job within the district. Most of the sections on the application did not apply to a substitute teacher position. Overall the hiring process took a month, which is a long time for this type of job position. The interview process was fine, but the planning was highly inconvenient.

    Transition Into Teaching Program Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in Fresno, CA
    No Offer
    Neutral Experience
    Average Interview

    Application

The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Fresno Unified School District (Fresno, CA) in February 2012.

    Interview

I initially communicated via phone and got hold of the person in charge of interviewing. We discussed in detail the purpose of the program that I would be entering into. The program is designed for professional to transition into becoming a high school teacher. When I had the interview, the woman who had communicated with from the beginning, the person in charge, was very nice and welcoming. My perception of the work culture there was that it was an easy going type. The advice I would give to approaching an interview with them is that you should have a relaxed demeanor and not get too caught up with the questions they ask.

Was interviewed by a panel of 3 managers. They asked some questions taken from Microsoft interviews, like "How would you test a salt shaker?" and "How many times do the hands on a clock land on the same number at the same time in a 24 hour period?"
