    Sales Representative Interview

    Neutral Experience

    Application

The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Furniture Row (Denver, CO) in February 2012.

    Interview

The interview process was two interviews, and each were about 2 hours long. One from the store manager and one from the regional manager. They almost ask identical questions so once you make it through the first interview you should expect a similar set of questions from the regional manager as well.

    Interview Questions

    • They asked many questions that were a little probing (i.e What do your parents do for a living). I thought their questions were odd, but I had no problem answering them honestly.   Answer Question

    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied in-person. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Furniture Row (Selma, TX) in April 2015.

    Interview

They asked a lot of stuff that had nothing to do with selling I've got 10 years and still didn't get hired. I got a lot of car business skills and plus the quality of people look like the rejects so if anyone is considering furniture row just go ahead and pass you can do better

    Interview Questions

    • Are my parents still married. Do you have any kids. What does integrity mean to you. Who are your role models. Whole process is screwed up   1 Answer

    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied in-person. I interviewed at Furniture Row (Nashville, TN) in March 2014.

    Interview

The interview process is long and thorough. They ask everything about your life; family, parents, childhood, mistakes, achievements, etc. it is very personal and grueling but I think it's good because they know exactly where to place you and who to place you under for leadership by the time it's over. They want to know you so they know how to help you succeed.

    Retail Salesperson Interview

Anonymous Interview Candidate in Syracuse, NY
    Declined Offer
    Negative Experience
    Average Interview

    Application

I applied in-person. I interviewed at Furniture Row (Syracuse, NY) in April 2013.

    Interview

Mostly asked very personal questions. Half of which are illegal to ask. After passing first interview with assistant store manager, then another with store manager, I had to wait 3 weeks to interview with regional manager. The interview with regional manager took almost 3 hours. Half of which seemed to be questions about drug history in the past. First harped on if I was doing drugs now, then if I ever took drugs, then if I knew anyone that took drugs. Since I never took drugs, he kept asking the same questions as if he didn't believe anyone in their 40s never tried drugs. Most of interview seemed to include many illegal questions.

    Interview Questions

    • How many children I had?   1 Answer
    • If I ever took any drugs, even back in high school?   1 Answer
    • If I've ever been arrested?   1 Answer

    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied in-person. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Furniture Row in January 2014.

    Interview

Completely different than any other place you've interviewed, that's guaranteed. They ask you super personal questions that kind of catch you off guard, even though they warn you before it starts. They're interested in who you are, not necessarily your work experience. You could have a PHD but if your personality is wrong for the job, you won't get hired. There's no wrong answers or anything like that. Just be honest, for your own good and theirs as well. You'll have 3 different interviews: Store, assistant, and regional manager. It took a while.

    Interview Questions

    Negotiation

No negotiating, you get paid for what you sell. 5%,6%, up to 7% commission. Or you 7i, which means you didn't sell much that week and 40hrs of $7.25 minimum wage would exceed your crappy commission.

    Sales Associate Interview

    Anonymous Employee

    Positive Experience

    Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Furniture Row in May 2015.

    Interview

In-depth. They ask you your motivations and why you think you can succeed. Background checks in depth as well. First, you apply on phone, but depending on the manager, they won't mind in person either. Coming back and checking every week may help to let them know you are serious.

    Interview Questions

    • Why would people buy from you when they're doing a million other things in their life?   1 Answer

    Difficult Interview

    Application

The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Furniture Row.

    Interview

It's a long process, 2-3 interviews. Tooke two weeks. General manager, assistant manager, then maybe the regional manager. Other people have had reviews where they are asked illegal questions. So far, both managers have been very very nice and completely real with me. I can tell they skip certain questions such as the ones that do not relate to me, which other people have been so there unfortunate as to have been asked. Good pay for a first job and worth the wait, otherwise take your chances at multiple places at one time for the best turnout, because this is not garuanteed

    Sales Associate Interview

    Interview

Stay away, unless you feel like answering extremely personal questions that don't pertain to the position.

I interviewed at the one off I-35. The first few questions were ok, but then he started asking me very personal questions, like were my parents around during my childhood, what do my siblings do for a living, how tall are you, etc. I felt like I was on a date. When I asked him why he was asking such personal questions, he said that he had to. I asked him for the interview paper to see if those questions were on there, he said that it was against their policy. It was extremely uncomfortable and unprofessional. We didn't talk about the position once. I honestly believe that I had been a man in this situation, this would have gone a lot differently.

    Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Furniture Row.

    Interview

This was by far the most uncomfortable interview I have ever had. None of the questions I was asked were about the job or work at all. I felt like I was meeting a very bad therapist for the first time or was on a very bad first date. I wanted to get up and walk out on the guy. I honestly don't know why I didn't. When he asked me if I had any questions I started asking him questions about the job and he cut me off and ended the interview. I'm pretty sure the questions he was asking me are very much illegal. He said he would call me on Friday to set up a second interview. I will be respectfully declining.
