Application

I applied through college or university. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at General Mills.

Interview

General Mills is very selective of the individuals it hires. They want talent but since this analyst role leads to eventual customer contact, they need brains and personality! Be yourself and don't be shy because GMI wants someone with confidence that they are comfortable putting in front of a director. Career Fair, three rounds of behavioral interviews, drug and background tests

Interview Questions

  • With your background, why General Mills and not some I-Banking Firm?   Answer Question

Negotiation

No negotiations as I was coming right out of college, take it or leave it really

    Application

I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at General Mills (Minneapolis, MN) in March 2010.

    Interview

Internal interview, but just as rigorous as an external review. Classic interview questions. Most interviewers at GMI will give you a nice smile and listen very politely. Note that "Minnesota Nice" prevents them from giving you negative feedback during the interview, so don't expect any favors or guidance. You must be responsible for what you say. No givebacks or mulligans.

    Interview Questions

    • Standard questions. Go read "What Color is Your Parachute" and you'll be prepared for variations on the limited number of standard questions.   Answer Question

    Negotiation

No negotiation. Mine was an internal level jump and thuis negotiations were frowned on.

    Application

The process took a week. I interviewed at General Mills (Minneapolis, MN) in May 2009.

    Interview

The interview process was quite quick and traditional. I was contacted directly to set up an interview which was then conducted in person 3 days later. I was contacted a second time for another interview with a second manager a few days after the first interview. The were standard 30 minutes a peice. I was extended an offer before the end of the following week.
