    Application

I applied through college or university. I interviewed at Goldman Sachs (Jersey City, NJ) in October 2016.

    Interview

Applied online after receiving referral from alumnus from my non-target university. First round was 20 minute phone screen, went through resume and one or two behavioral questions. Second round was video interview through HireVue. I recommend doing as many practice questions as you can, to get familiar with the software and recording. 4 behavioral questions, all of which were similar to the practice ones and one technical asking about recent acquisitions. Third round was in Jersey City office where the was three 30 minute interviews. Be prepared to walk thorough your resume every time and be prepared to answer questions on it. First was with fairly young associate, who asked technical questions from a question sheet, all fairly straightforward. Second was a video conference with two older associates from San Francisco. More technical questions but was more of a running conversation rolling from topic to topic. I felt it was difficult to establish a good rapport with them as the the recording setup was awkwardly positioned and there was connectivity issues which made it hard for the interview to have a good flow. The third interview was with a VP who focused strictly on my resume followed by some behavioral questions.

    Investment Banking Analyst Interview

    Application

I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 3+ months. I interviewed at Goldman Sachs (Salt Lake City, UT) in May 2015.

    Interview

It was pretty straightforward but it takes forever to even get an interview. I found everything professional but I definitely won't be working there. I found a lot of the questions were less technical and more aptitude-related in general. I wasn't asked to do that much financial modeling or answer any highly specific questions at all. I think that they care a lot about cultural fit more than anything else.
