The interview process took at least a week. I went through a phone screening by the HR and was asked to do a code test, then a web technical interview and finally a 3 and a half hour face to face interview onsite.
- Describe the Singleton Pattern. Try and implement it.

I got a code test with 2 simple problems that needed to be solved within 2 and a half hours. I passed this one. Then there was an interview on campus which asked very basic questions about java and the project I am proud of. I passed this round too. The final round was on-site in Dublin for 3 hours. First hour was mainly asking me about why I want to work in Guidewire and why this specific role. He then asked me about my most significant project. When I started talking about it, he started yawning. Apparently it wasn't as interesting for him as it was for me. Then the next hour was a technical interview, half an hour about java constructors and inheritance and the next half an hour about two basic algorithm questions. The next hour was also related to why I want to work there and if I have any questions about the company. They said they will reply within a week. It has been a month already and they never replied. I assume that means I am rejected but still it is very unprofessional not to reply to people specially if they have taken their time and went to your office. I would not want to work in an environment like this. People were nice, or at least they appeared to be nice.
- Listing all the files within a directory with only one loop

Initial phone screen for 40 minutes. Then 5hrs coding test on jdbc, badcode, jms, collections. Followed by a 1hour technical over phone. Then comes a face to face interview for 4hours covering hiring manager, technical, cultural fit and HR rounds. I went through all the rounds and HR told they will tell the result in 2days and asked me to send the passport copy on the same day. I took it as an hint for the positive feedback. But i didnt received any phone or email from them. I verified with her about my feedback she replied after 2 days saying that being vacation time she didnt received the feedback then and she will inform for sure on the following day. But then i didnt received a call. So much irritated of their response. Spent 10-11hours of time with their interview and didnt deserve a 30sec email from them.

Medium difficulty. More focus on Java. Also they test your skills in recursion. They also ask about your past projects at a high level and system design. Initially, they will give you a code test which you can do offline. It generally takes 4-5 hrs to do the test. Test covers topics related to: 1) Bad Code 2) JDBC 3) Collection of Collections 4) JMS You are supposed to do any two questions from the above topics. But no. 1 is compulsory. I choose 1 and 3. After that a telephone screening takes place. They test your breadth of knowledge in Java rather than the depth. Also ask about Databases and XML. But main focus is on java. This was followed by face to face interviews with 3-4 rounds consecutively. It last for about 4 hrs and can be a bit exhausting. They ask a lot of questions spanning past projects, competency based, real world scenarios, problem solving, technical rounds, and HR round.
- Describe the architecture/system design of your Master's project
- How would you perform joins on 3 tables?
- What is the difference between ArrayList and LinkedList?
- How would you implement a singleton pattern?
- What are the benefits and disadvantages of Agile methodology? Which SDLC methodology did you choose for your projects?

Applied online and was emailed a few days later to set up HR screening phone interview, which was fine. The usual stuff about college, life, interests and information on the company and position. A code test is then scheduled whenever you choose. Code test is not difficult, well it shouldn't be if you've put in work in college. Consisted of 4 questions: 1. JDBC 2. Collection of Collections 3. Bad Code 4. JMS (Optional) Do either 1 or 2, 3 is mandatory and 4 is optional. Took me 4 hours to complete (Most time spent on JMS as we hadn't covered it before this code test) If your successful with the code test you will then have a phone interview with an engineer where the usual questions are asked. (4 Pillars of java, static, private, abstract, singleton pattern, SQL questions) Then there is a face to face interview in Guidewire office consisting of 3 1 hour interviews. First was to draw architecture of FYP on whiteboard and talk through it, answer questions and a demo on GoSu. Second is the technical interview where I was asked to explain code on singleton pattern, static variables and a whiteboard problem which was focused on recursion. Final interview was a talk about my CV and HR questions like working in teams etc. All in all a very positive experience. The people are lovely, very kind and helpful. The two girls working in HR (Dublin Office) were fantastic to deal with.
- What is a static variable?
- Here is singleton pattern code. Explain what is happening.
- How would you test the function in whiteboard problem.

1. phone call telling some info about the position and the company and things about your background ofc 2. code test, mine only includes jdbc, bad code, jms. 3. a technical phone call, java, sql and jms 4. face to face interview which lasts 3 hours the last phase could be tricky, the questions are easy but it lasts too long so you really need be well rested. they will give you feedback after the interview anyway
- during phone interview: java keywors, basic sql statement, and some simple java questions during face to face interview: gave me a couple of questions about sql and java funtion and asked me to do it on white board. more info about the company, explain your projects, etc.

There are 4 stages: 1. General phone call (background, experience, CV stuff) 2. Coding test (JDBC, JMS, Bad code, Collections) - not difficult 3. Technical skills phone call (look at the interview questions) 4. Face to face interview in Dublin, hotel and transport paid by the company, a great chance to have a feeling of the place, visit the whole office and have a feel of the environment and working atmosphere. The results and the scheduals of the next phase is fast and you don't have to be nervous at all.
- Basic questions about: -keywords; private, static... - XML - inheritance all in all basic technical skills the face to face interview is more like showing some of your projects, and letting them to get to know you a little better. There where also a few questions about how would you implement a function that does a certain thing, you do it on the blackboard

-1 Phone "interview" (to explain the job etc...) -1 coding exercise (easy, the solution was online...) -1 "real" interview with technical questions - Then, I've had an interview with 3 persons at the office They ask questions that are far more complex than the actual job. Indeed, they ask about JEE/web services/Design patterns, while the job is just dragging and dropping UI elements, and writing very small and easy algorithms.
- JEE, web services, algorithms, data structure, design patterns, the core values of the company.
