I applied online. I interviewed at Handshake (San Francisco, CA) in Mar 2021
Interview
I would advise anyone considering interviewing with Handshake to reconsider.
I submitted an application online, and within a few days was contacted by a recruiter. This recruiter came off as arrogant and condescending during our conversation. For example, he stopped mid-interview to lecture me on how I “hesitated” when asked why I left my previous employer. It came off like he didn’t believe that I left my job by choice and that I must have something to hide, which I did not appreciate. This was the first red flag.
My 2nd interview also had its share of red flags. There was so much noise on their end, including an echo, which was very distracting. Then when I mentioned that one of the things that I value is work/life balance, they laughed! They were essentially implying that there’s no work-life balance at Handshake. Another red flag!
The recruiter reached out to me after my 2nd interview and asked if they could keep me on hold indefinitely while they figure out the direction that their Customer Success department is headed, as they would be interested in me for another position (not the one I interviewed for), and they would get back to me in 1 week. I said sure, and I never heard back from them. It’s been months.
I have an extremely negative impression of Handshake after this experience. I will never apply to or interview with this company again, and if you value your time, you shouldn’t either.

Interview
Ghosted. I had a first screening call with the recruiter who let me know that I would be moving forward in the process and they went dark after that. Overall, a very disjointed process
