As the project manager it's incredibly important to communicate with both your superiors and the employees that you're managing. Make it known that if an employee has an issue with something, you're door is always open to them. This will give them the sense that you're willing to alleviate their frustrations, and will help counter future debacles from arising. If there are certain employees that are simply too suborn to work with, then you may want to communicate with your superiors to establish whether or not their name can be used to get something done: e.g. "Vice President Smith says that this has to get done by Monday". While this is kind of a manipulative tool, it'll help get the point across.
