I sent in my resume and did not hear back until a few months ago. My interview went well, but the head librarian seemed reluctant to offer me a job just for the summer and recommended I volunteered instead. I would be doing the same work- but for no pay. She said she would let me know if anything came up, but so far I've heard nothing.
