Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Hulu.

Interview

First I'm sure there was an application/resume review. Afterwards, I had a 30 minute phone screen, then a final 2 hour Skype interview. It appeared they used the first two rounds to learn more about my experience and skill level, and used the final round to see if I fit into the company culture. The first two rounds were pretty formal, but the Skype interview was more casual and fun. For the video call, I had several people interview me in 30 minute windows of time, then I would talk to a new person. All asked different questions which kept me engaged and interested in the interview process. By the end of the interview I felt like I had a chance in some way, shape, or form to cover all of my bases (professional experience, life outside of school/work, interests, workplace personality). Really effective interviewing method.

    Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Hulu.

    Interview

2 phone interviews, than a long 2 hour interview with 4 managers. They interview A LOT of super qualified candidates for very few positions. Everyone is very friendly and receptive to questions, but the process is long and quite unaccommodating for working students with limited free time. As compared to more established media companies, the process was a bit unprofessional, but after reading reviews from previous years, I think they are really trying to improve.

    Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Hulu in January 2016.

    Interview

Had several interviews with Hulu for an intern position at the headquarters. They were all phone interviews, and they went well. Everyone there was really friendly and kind. They did not give me an offer, but they were really considerate in letting me know that they were not moving forward with me. They were prompt with replying to my follow ups and were very easy to talk to.

I applied through college or university. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Hulu.

    Interview

Took an online assessment which was supposed to be able to solve a hangman game. Very difficult and seemed like an unnecessarily long first-round interview question. It had an 8-hour time limit and was the preliminary challenge which filtered future candidates for the other interview rounds.

Sent me two programming code samples. Had to read through the code and figure out what the code was doing and what should the function be called (in the sample the function codes were called mysteryXXX).

The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Hulu in March 2010.

    Interview

There were two phone screens with managers and an onsite interview that consisted of one on one interviews with three managers. The interviews were all behavioral and everyone there was very nice and easygoing. Right after the three interviews, though, a person from HR discovered that I didn't qualify to be an intern for legal reasons and that I would not be offered the position. It would have been nice if they found that out beforehand and saved me the gas money, but it wasn't that big of a deal.
