I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at IBM in Apr 2008
Interview
Was interviewed by Lead Architect for role of IT Architect with a UNIX focus. Interview concentrated on my skill set and how I could add value to the process of transformation and migration of client UNIX based application to IBM and/or client data centers. Interviewer was very professional and to the point and asked about my experience and skills in this area. The job involved work from home and travel and his wanted to ensure that I was comfortable working in the IBM culture of remote work on multiple projects. He sensed that I "had been there and done that" due my specific about problems that can arise out of such projects. I think that was what sealed the job.

I applied through other source. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at IBM
Interview
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at IBM (Bengaluru) in Aug 2016
Interview
One initial exploratory call with business owner to get to know the roles and responsibilities. One round of technical and process oriented telephonic call. One round of face to face interview with the hiring manager in India. People interviewing were very much experienced, friendly and understanding. The process is a pain and it is slow. The recruiter had lots of calls and still the system did not show the offer letter on time. Patience is required and follow up with the recruiter is suggested. Though a "don't care" mindset is helpful, in case the offer does not come after long pursuit. Just imagine this: the first interview schedule call came almost 3 months after the first call from recruiter. They took that much time to shortlist.
