    Wholesale Banking Interview

Anonymous Employee in New York, NY
    Accepted Offer
    Positive Experience
    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied through college or university. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at ING (New York, NY) in March 2017.

    Interview

I started out with 3 quizzes about situation works stuff, a math test, and a personality test. Then I had a phone screen with HR contact, then a "super day" with 3 sets of interviews that were each 30 minutes with one or two people interviewing me at once

    Interview Questions

    • phone - value starbucks as a company and how would you determine if you would issue debt to them
in person - almost completely behavioural (tell me about yourself, why are you interested in the company, outline your quantitative skills, what do you know about ING) - this may have been because I was very upfront about not having quantitative exposure to finance at all and I had a very diverse background/experience in econ/CS   Answer Question

    Application

I applied through college or university. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at ING (New York, NY) in February 2017.

    Interview

It seems the process took longer than it should have. Everyone involved was pleasant, however. The order of the format of the interviews seemed backwards, as an in-person interview with an analyst preceded a phone interview with a director.

    Positive Experience
    Easy Interview

    Application

I applied through college or university. The process took 4+ weeks. I interviewed at ING (New York, NY) in November 2016.

    Interview

Received a phone call from HR, composed of basic behavior questions & one technical question. A few days after, received an email confirming I would be invited to the superday upon successfully passing an online test: The assessment contained a behavior part to it, along with a logic test too. Successfully passed the exam, and received an email inviting me to attend superday two weeks later. Superday was fairly easy, but a long process; Be prepared to be at their office for eight hours, along with 7 interviews if invited.

    Interview Questions

    • All standard behavioral questions: Why ING, why the (ITP) program, why banking, tell me about yourself, etc.

I only received one technical question and that was during the phone screen. The technical question was how would I analyze a company and if they would be able to repay their debt.   1 Answer

    Interview

There were 2 phone interviews followed by an onsite interview. The phone interviews were completely technical with questions ranging from SQL, C++, Operating System principles, networking and shell scripting. The onsite interview was technical as well as behavioral. The technical questions were similar to the phone interviews and the behavioral was pretty decent. They asked questions about what you would do in specific situations.

    Interview Questions

    • I do not remember any questions since it was almost a year ago, but they mostly ask basics. Questions are fairly easy for an undergrad in Computer Science if you are applying for a role in IT.   Answer Question
