Student Mentor Interview

If you had a student that was upset about failing an exam

 , what would you do?

Interview Answer

Initially, I'd offer a phone consultation with the option of a follow-up session in an online meeting room. The purpose for these would be to hear the student's areas of concern, being able to point out what was missed, as well as giving consideration to whether or not I missed something. The next step, should the student not be satisfied, would be to encourage her or him to follow the grievance procedures that are available via the university's policies and procedures.
